Even so I still don't see it (that site has a much better transcript btw).

In 20 years if Craig Krenzel is getting interviewed and asked about how Matt Russel was the real heart & soul of the 02 team how do you think he'd reply?

Again not saying Montana isn't a prick, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is. I just can't find fault with him on this particular quote.

Well I've met him briefly...seemed like an asshat to me.

But either way, the way he worded several things makes him sound like a spoiled multi-millionaire brat who is pissed off his walk-on son didn't get the star treatment while he was there. To me anyway.

I haven't met Joe personally, but I've met his son (Nate is back at Notre Dame this year after a year at another school). I currently have two cousins at Notre Dame, and I can tell you that Joe didn't push his sons toward Notre Dame. One is at another college, Washington maybe, but Nate wanted to play for the Irish. Nate said his father knew there would be pressure there and a harder time getting a starting role, but that didn't phase him. That doesn't debunk the theory that Joe's an asshat or not, but he's not pissed anyway that his son isn't getting star treatment.

As far as Rudy the movie, it's based on a true story. The real Rudy states on the website that the director took liberties with some events like the jersies on the desk to add drama and fit the story into a 2 hour time frame. Most sports stories are "based on a true story" so I don't have a problem with it. As a motivational/entertainment piece it does pretty good. I prefer a few other sports stories, but Rudy is decent at least.

It was Georgia Tech. After forgetting so much, it makes you wonder if Montana was really there - at least mentally.

And for what it's worth, Here's the play, including the extra T.D. that N.D. supposedly had to get so Rudy could get in.[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z950ovP7N4]YouTube - 1975 Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech - The Rudy Play[/ame]

It was 35 years ago, I don't think anyone should be surprised if his memory is a little sketchy. I'm sure he was there mentally at the time.

I also don't really see it. Haven't listened to the audio clip, so keep that in mind.

Joe Montana scores another touchdown for reality against 'Rudy' - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF? - Yahoo! Sports

Apparently Joe has a problem with Rudy...but not nearly as much as the writer above does

Quite frankly I've always thought he (Joe) was kind of an asshat...I mean what does he gain by trashing Rudy (the real one, not the movie)? I talked to someone who was actually in the stands that game, and he says people actually were cheering for him to play. Personally I don't get it, but who doesn't love a good Notre Dame slapfight? I think most everyone knows the whole thing about laying their jerseys on the desk of the coach is made up.

My respect. Rudy is an asshole. A drunk, casino greeter desperately milking his 15 minutes well past an hour. [censored] Rudy. [censored] him hard and [censored] him rough!

Hell, I'm sure the domers sent a couple of priests out to Vegas on Tuesday to start getting the little freak sober in time for his triumphant appearance at tonights doucheba...I mean domer pep rally.

God I hate those fucking pukes.

Rudy was offsides!

apparently the SEC (not Gator's SEC, but the REAL SEC) has taken issue with Rudy and his pump and dump stock scheme :slappy:

paging NDChief....

I like it when people are ordered to pay a huge fine, but they don't have to admit fault. So they can still say they didn't do anything wrong.

I wonder what he tells people when they ask him about this? Well see, the SEC was running short on cash due to budget cuts and all and I sort of stepped in to save the day!

'Rudy' settles in SEC stock fraud case, pays $383K

Daniel Ruettiger, who earned a walk-on spot on Notre Dame's college football team for his plucky play despite his small frame, dished out $382,866 to settle SEC charges for a pump-and-dump stock scheme that reportedly rolled up $11 million in profits for Rudy Nutrition, a now out of business soft-drink company.
"Investors were lured into the scheme by Ruettiger's well-known, feel-good story but found themselves in a situation that did not have a happy ending," Scott Friestad, Associate Director of the SEC's Division of Enforcement, said according to NewsCore.
Ruettiger and 12 others allegedly schemed to portray the drink as something it wasn't according to the SEC, therefore inflating the price of the company's stock for future sale.
Ten others agreed to settle along with Ruettiger, the inspiration for the film "Rudy", while two individuals still face litigation according to the SEC.
