Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

It was his decision.
I read that in the article, also. If so, I feel it was a bad one on his part. I have supported JT, and feel he has done a tremendous job for tOSU. However, he made a terrible decision when he got the email for which he and the university have paid dearly.

If this is a self-imposed suspension, all it is doing is once more bringing to the forefront his troubles at tOSU. There is nothing to gain by it, other than allowing him to play a martyr role. It does not help the university, it does not help his former players and coaches. It is time to move on.

GO BUCKS and GO Coach Fickell
(Should we now say, "In the guy wearing long sleeves and a jacket in 95 degree weather we trust?" :))

Respectfully, I'd like to disagree. If the team and Pryor all serve something, then Tressel will never live it down unless he also serves some kind of penalty. Does he really care about not being in the replay booth for six games? Probably not. It's not like they are paying him a lot to be there.

To move on, he needs to do this.

I believe being fired from his dream job is a rather severe penalty. And I also believe this brings tOSU troubles back to the forefront unneccesarily. As you said, we can respectfully disagree with one another.

I agree that this wasn't necessary. Tressel paid his penalty by being forced to "retire" and have his name dragged through the mud by the lamestream media. Where was Espin with these [censored]ing retarded comments about Carroll, Bush or Kiffykins for that matter.

Another view is that perhaps JT felt that this would prevent ESPN showing him in the booth during the highlights of the first several Colts game, and commenting on how JT is getting paid in the NFL while his former players, including TP in the NFL, remain suspended.

And another view is that JT simply believed that it was the right thing to do, regardless of public perception.

This is really just a blip on the radar.

If I was JT, I would never even consider coaching in college again. He already had the best job in the business. Wherever he goes and is successful, the bullshit, and innuendo will follow, he doesn't need it.

I'm thinking if he does it will be a lower profile position, like returning to YSU or maybe even his alma mater (Baldwin-Wallace). Simply for the love of the game/job.

I don't see him at a high profile job, given recent events and his age. He has said more than once he has no desire to coach as long as Bowden/Paterno, so it wouldn't surprise me if he never coaches at all.

ESPN can't get anymore pathetic.

I question his decision simply because it gave validation to ESPN's opinion. :mad2:

Suspended by the Colts for 6 games.

This is typical ESPN initiated Bullshit. When will it stop? Just heard Stephen Smith on ESPN3 say, "it's not enough and the punishment should fit the crime". I suppose if Tressel and Pryor were beheaded publically and their heads displayed on their Gameday stage on poles with Buckeyes hanging from the carnage, that wouldn't be enough for them. Give me a break.

It's Stephen Smith. You really need more of an explanation as to why he is making a mountain out of a grain of sand?

Stop listening to/watching ESPiN and you won't hear the extreme sensationalism. :wink2:
