I'm not sure of that. A team/coach that has lost the last two BCSNCG's back in the race for a third chance seems like a pretty legit story to me...like it or not.

I see what you're saying. It may be a legit story but it's hardly relevant to this season, I guess is my point. There are a ton of interesting streaks/stories in recent college football history that don't get nearly as much play.

Agree to disagree. Or is it "When in Rome"?

The way I see it, any interview conducted with any coach/member of the Ohio State Buckeye's 2008 football team should very well include those questions. It's very relevant, perhaps the biggest story, of the 2008 Buckeye season. The 2006 team, lets face facts, layed one of the biggest eggs ever, and the '07 team snuck in a year early only to come up short again. Redemption in '08 will be one of the big themes.

One quick comment on the interview with Jesse Palmer on College Football Live before we move on:

I have taken a quote from it as my new sig. I repeat it in this post for the benefit of those who read through this thread after my sig has changed again.

You don't get respect in debates. You get respect in actions. And 2008's on the way.

Those words, and the way he said them, and the look on his face when he said them, tells me that he intends to earn some respect this year.

It was a good interview. I got a good chuckle from the other segment after the JT interview, though, re: Carson Palmer's comments about Buckeye fans. That wrapped up with Brent Musberger jokingly saying Palmer should watch his mouth, because Buckeye fans don't forget, then Brent pointed out that he would know, as he made the mistake of wearing a Maize blazer to an OSU/Michigan game once.

Tressel's session with the media at BigTen Media Day is currently being played on ESPNews.

Edit- wish I had Big Ten Network right now, guess they had live coverage of all the coaches...Comcast doesn't get it until 8/15.

Full Video is available on the BTN website...link

Tressel downplays 'gentlemen' comment
July 24, 2008
Posted by ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg

CHICAGO -- Ohio State coach Jim Tressel expects the rivalry with Michigan to have some added excitement and even "mystery" with a new coach prowling the Wolverines' sideline.

But Tressel doesn't think he added any fuel to the annual game with his comments this spring about Big Ten coaches pursuing recruits who are already verbally committed to other league schools. At Ohio State's spring preview luncheon, Tressel was asked if poaching a committed recruit violates a gentlemen's agreement between Big Ten coaches.

"I guess only between the gentlemen," he replied.

Many viewed the comment as a dig at new Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, who landed a wide receiver prospect (Roy Roundtree) who already had committed to Purdue.

"The discussion wasn't even about me," Tressel said Thursday. "I didn't have any involvement in that whole thing leading up to me. I've served with Rich on the American Football Coaches (Association) Board of Trustees long before he went to Michigan. He's going to be a great representative for Michigan and the Big Ten. So no, I wasn't trying to make a point."
