Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

Tressel's act of thanks irks NCAA
Saturday, December 22, 2007

Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel appreciates the value of classroom success. So he invited his two first-team Academic All-Americans last season, receiver Anthony Gonzalez and fullback Stan White Jr., to join him on a private jet to watch Ohio State's basketball team play in the Final Four in Atlanta.

Both players had exhausted their eligibility and signed with agents and were no longer considered current student-athletes. So nice reward for a job well done, right?

Not according to the NCAA. Ohio State was forced to self-report a secondary violation after OSU compliance director Doug Archie spotted White and Gonzalez sitting with Tressel.

Don't you worry YSUBuck, soon it will overtake the USC stories and we'll be back in first :sick1: (stupid eSpin) This is just the type of s%$# that keeps chips on we fans shoulders, that some visiting fans wonder about.

Way to go Miles (Brand) way to stay on top of these important issues.

It's currently at the very top of their college football "news headlines" section, titled:"Report: Tressel trip ends in NCAA violation report."

This piece has already gotten as much attention on espin as all the other shit that happened at USC.

Be thankful it's not "Tressel ignores ethics rules - gets Buckeyes in Championship Game Again"

Tressel didn't realize that the rule prohibiting athletes or their families from receiving extra benefits applies to former student-athletes, too.

Frankly, that's quite surprising.

That's some fucking bullshit. Amazing what some programs get away with yet the NCAA goes all out for insignificant shit like this. :smash::smash::smash::smash:

I haven't seen anything about the NCAA doing anything about it.

Most of the responses on the ESPN report are like this:

WHAT A JOKE!! Im a HUGE WOLVERINE FAN, but this is CRAZY,, Reggie Bush mom recieves money from an AGENT WHILE HE IS PLAYING his Junior and Senior year and Rules committe does NOTHING, Tressel take two player who are DONE playing football at the university and going to the pros and then all hell breaks loose!! Something is wrong with this picture!!

However there are these folks still out there.....

this is so stupid.. Tressel is the coach at Division ONE college ... HE KNOWS the rules.. or at least he should.. HE definitely should be punished as should the School for allowing it.. And IF he did not know the rules.. he should be fired for being in that position and NOT knowing the rules... either way.. there is NO excuse for it..

and this....

its black and white. buckeyes are repeat offenders. a cancer to college football . the fish stinks at the head first. flank and quarter tressell . give em the death penalty . :(
