Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

I had a laugh at the beginning of halftime of the wisky game when the teams came off the field. JT had a quick interview then quickly jogged off into the locker room. One could tell he jogs a lot and was fired up.

The two cops with him were having a hell of a time keeping up.:)

Haven't had a chance to read all of today's threads, but JT racks up another 10 win season. Not too long ago in the world of college football, that would be a big deal. It still is to me. This team continues to grow (yeah, I post that every week), but it's the mark of a superb coaching job.

Throughout the entire history of the Big Ten there have been plenty of great coaches. There have even been times when great coaches had the league more or less to themselves; times when the league overall was soft.

Whether or not the league is soft now, Jim Tressel just broke the league record for consecutive conference wins. No coach has ever won more, consecutively. Not even before the 85 scholarship limit.

And it's fitting that the HBO special about The Game will debut on November 13th. That day (if OSU beats Illinois), will be the 3rd anniversary of the last time Ohio State lost to a team that finished lower than #3. Three solid years of not losing to anyone outside of the final top-3: Who does that anymore?

JT, that's who.

I know this is a bad thought to have when we were losing to Wisconsin earlier today but I had to set myself up for the possability we might lose that game. So I started thinking What tressel has done here has been amazing and to get this team to be 10-0 is amazing. Now we've had a very favorable schedule, we have talented players, but we had big time holes and questions on both sides of the ball particulary on offense. So I was thinkin how we were picked to finish 4th in the big ten, and so far we've been a very over achieving team. I told a friend or two we'd run the table and they looked at me like I was crazy but i was showing confidence in them thats all. I really expected losses at Purdue and at Penn State before we started this season and so far they've over achieved probably many of our expectations including mine. Now i realize that this team is just talented and well coached and we can thank Mr. Jim Tressel for that

In my 5 years as a student at tOSU Jim Tressel has won:
50 Games
3 BCS bowls
4 Total Bowl Wins
1 National Championship,
And 4 wins against TSUN.
Its almost hard to believe.
Thank you JT for making my college experience an incredible one!
I grew up in South Fla. , had a high school buddy from Jupiter high play for Tressell @Youngstown (Reggie Scurry)........He told me as soon as we hired him, things would turn for the better in Columbus. Reggie got a Div 1-AA Championship ring under Tressell. One of the first things he told me about him was his preparation habits, and how he gets his kids to prepair....."He is a film Nut".......were his exact words. He also says behind closed doors and in the locker room he can cuss like a sailor, we he is not happy...........lol:osu:

I concur. I graduated HS with a guy who played 4 years for JT at YSU, and I'm still waiting to hear about something negative about the experience.

Well Reggie was an all area athlete at RB in Palm Beach county , and when Tressell got him to youngstown He put him at DB. Reggie had issues at first with it. He never really played Defense, he was a runner, and loved being RB. But Tressell put things into perspective to him. And it all workrd out for everyone. Today Reggie is a Detective back home, and has a wonderful family. He is not a Buckeye fan, but he is smiles when he talks about Tressell.:osu:

You can thank the YSU Penguins for Coach tress............And by the way, the game vs YSU didn't cost OSU a #1 Spot in the BCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Bucks!

We will. You, in turn, can thank us for doubling your Athletic Department's budget this year (I kid I kid).

Seriously, when we went down in that game, and everyone started thinking "Oh God not again." I took a look at Tressel. One look told me everything was going to be just fine. He didn't look panicked, upset, or even the slightest bit aware that his team was losing by a touchdown to his archnemesis. He looked like he always does- calm, cool, collected, in control of everything. One look and I turned to my friend, who was already talking about how bad we could end up losing, and said "Look at our sideline. Do you see who is over there? Are you really worried that we are going to lose with JT standing on the sideline in Scarlet and Gray?" And of course, he rethought his position. I posted this earlier- I could not be more confident every year than I am with Tressel as our coach. Whether we return 22 starters or 2, I am absolutely certain that Tressel will bring us out ready to play every single game.

It really is amazing what JT is getting accomplished so far at Ohio State. In his 7th season, he now has five years with 10 wins or more, and three in a row. He also has managed to compile a 72-14 record, which is incredible. In other words, between now and leading into next year's Michigan game, Tressel can go 8-6 and still wind up at 80-20 for his first 100 games. I have all of my vBucks that he does better than 8-6. Then, let's look at the future of this team. We are scary-young right now, and the incoming class is looking stellar. The Bucks could very well win 10 games in 08, 09, and 2010.

I'm getting spoiled.
