Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

I caught it. It was standard Tressel.

Colin: I don't have you guys at #1. I have LSU at #1. But, if LSU struggles, then I will put you guys at #1.

Tressel: We need to do our part for you to put us at #1.

Colin: Okay, that's fair.

The best part was when he revealed that an 83 year old woman from Akron, OH designed the Statue of Liberty play that resulted in a first down from
Troy Smith to Antonio Pittman in the Ohio State - Michigan game. Tressel emphasized that he always reads all of his mail, because he cares about what the fans want and that you never know what you are going to get.

I guess there is hope yet for JoePa, all he needs is the right kind of octogenarian assistant coaching staff.

At just before 7 am PST, I was listening to the Coward (intentional misspelling) show. He told Ivan Maisel that he was going to say these exact words to Tressel. After that, all I heard was what sounded like bottles squirting and Colin and Ivan slopping lotion all over each other in some audio man love situation. For those who aren't aware, on the Left Coast, the Pac 10 switches places of prominence with the SEC.

Anyway... it's good to read that Tressel stayed his professional self.

On further consideration, I believe Tressel was damned polite not to simply say to Cowherd that, what he said didn't matter much, as he didn't have a vote of any type (with AP, or Harris or the Coaches Polls).

Tressel has serious case of Indian fever

Friday, October 19, 2007 Doug Lesmerises

Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus -- An 11-year-old boy in an Indians jersey snuck into the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Thursday. No, wait, that was just Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel parading around in a No. 1 Tressel jersey the team gave him.
Already fired up about the Browns' start to the season, the Cleveland fan inside the OSU coach, who grew up in Berea, has particularly emerged during the Indians' playoff run. He went so far Thursday as to taunt Minnesota native and Twins fan James Laurinaitis in the hallway.
"I don't see any Twins jerseys. Oh, that's right, they're not playing anymore," Tressel told Laurinaitis.

Anyone else think that yesterday was one of Tressel's best coaching and play calling performances?

I thought he did a fantastic job managing the game into the 3rd quarter and his 4th quarter game management was absolutely superb.

WTG Jim!

Would you mind elaborating? I didn't get to see the game.

I would only give him a B for yesterday's game.

The game plan/play calling lacked an emphasis on protecting the ball when we were ahead by 24.

Then, after two turnover/TDs, I was hoping to see more of a confidence builder for Boeckman --- let him throw a pass here and there, to show TB that we know he is not a complete ****up.

But if I was the coach I probably would have lost us the game.... so, pay no attention to me!

Overall, since the Fiesta Bowl with Notre Dame, I think he has come into his own for playcalling.

And whatever lesson there was to be learned from 14-41, I hope he's learned that, too.

With this week's focus on Boeckman, and giving the offense confidence, this Penn State game will be one of his best. Ever.

34-6 OSU.

In Tress I certainly Trust.
