Isn't our team gpa up to 2.96 now?

official.site/121606

Per JT, it was 2.93 for the last quarter, with 61 players having at least a 3.0.

FYI, the phrase 'gpa up to' could be interpreted as the average of each player's individual accumulative GPA, which is a different number, and one wihch I have not seen published. A phrase such as "the team's most recent GPA" may help avoid confusion.

Players Comment on "Big Game James"

With the championship game lurking just days away, Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel has an opportunity to cement his reputation as a legand - at least in the state of Ohio. Buckeyes players talked a little about their sideline leader today, and Scout.com was there...

Nice quote from Troy
?Our team, you know, we just have a lot respect for Coach Tressel and what he does for us as players,? Smith said as his mood turned serious. ?We go in, come into Ohio State as young, teenage adults, 18-years-old, 19-years-old. He really instills values in us and we come out as men.?

Tressel's success always in fashion

From his sweater-vests to victories, consistency is coach's calling card

Jan. 5, 2007 12:00 AM Sweater-vests aren't included in many modern wardrobes. If they are, they're probably buried in a dusty box next to a leather helmet. They're old school and understated, a lot like Ohio State coach Jim Tressel, who must have two rooms - and only two rooms - full of yesteryear's fashion.

SPORTS SPOTLIGHT TODD PORTER

GLENDALE, Ariz.

The herd was in force. Two by two, reporters who looked as if they?ve had too many Tostitos rumbled down the steps at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
Media day at the BCS National Championship Game is a circus. One guy actually asked Tressel this: If he were a reporter, what kind of question would he ask himself?

Invitations to attend Ohio State football practices. A willingness to talk. Even a surprise congratulatory phone call. Those are some of the ways Jim Tressel makes an impact on Ohio high school football coaches as Ohio State's head coach.

When he got here, some of the YSU fans said he'd build a fence around Ohio. I'm calling bullshit. It's not a fence. It's a steel-reinforced concrete wall a mile high and a mile thick defended with 120mm guns firing depleted uranium rounds. He's still working on the moat.

But at the end of the day, he's not just spending time being a part of Ohio High School Football just to get the best players in the State. He's doing it because he knows that Ohio High School Football is better when the OSU head coach is a part of it. The coaches mean a hell of a lot when they say, "He gets it". I wonder if we truly appreciate just how much.

His sweater-vest is scarlet when the Buckeyes wear white. It's gray when they're in red. That way, he says, the players can find him."

I don't know that I've read a sentence that sums
up the man's attention to details so well.
