Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

It will always be in the back of our minds had this season turned out if Tressel reported the Tatoo incidents for favors and trinkets and such.
Would we have been investigated right off the bat by the NCAA. Would
the season of 2011 would be any better off that what we finished at.
And would Jim Tressel be our coach at Ohio State?

If Tressel had reported it all then yes he would be coaching but as far as player outcome it would've been the same maybe slightly less harsh.

If he had reported it, they would have missed 4 games at the beginning of last year. (Well, maybe 5 if they were still less than truthful about it, but, whatever)

Look... I know this whole thing sucks, but, Tressel put us in this mess. It is what it is. We'll move on.

I fully expect that will happen, but it is too soon given the current circumstances. The coaching situation and the NCAA sanctions need to be resolved before anything like that takes place.

It's not too soon for me. I've forgiven him (at least insofar as my forgiveness really matters.) It's only football. It's not like he covered for a child molester.

And JT will be the first to tell you that.

From Mike Brewster:

"It was great. Coach Tress is someone I have so much love for. He's an unbelievable coach and unbelievable human being. To be able to see him again, hear a few words for him, it definitely got us pumped up. It was an honor. It was emotional for some guys, myself included. It stinks when you feel like you got robbed a year of your life with him. He didn't skip a beat. It was like you blinked and it was like 'man, is everything a nightmare' because it seemed like he's still here."

It's too soon for reasons that have nothing to do with how much love JT still has in the tOSU fan base, but everything to do with the best interests of the football program.

My forgiveness, nor that of most anyone else on this board has anything to do with the interests of the football program.

The fact that the program itself has to keep him at arm's length for the time being doesn't mean I have to keep resenting him for the mistakes he made.

So it's too soon for individuals on an internet message forum to state they have forgiven his transgressions for the "best interests of the football program"? Really?

JT had a such a strong presence on the sideline..countless times the QB's would run over and get plays and words of encouragement..we missed that this year especially with a true Freshman QB. I'll always remember the games where you and the team overcame the odds..the NC game, the Rose Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, the first win over Mich...You were a truly remarkable Coach..

Just seemed strange without him out there today. He is missed (well, by some of us anyway).

I miss him. Jesus H Christ I love the guy. I was a student at YSU when he was winning championships there and when I moved to Columbus I told anyone that would listen that the next Ohio State coach is 3 hours northeast.

I get pissed off every time I think about the situation. What were you thinking?!?!?!?!?!?!? The players? Fine. Whatever. You're stupid. But this is the heart and soul of the football program.

I have to keep saying he screwed up because that's what's out there. There is nothing else. I don't know if I believe it though. That's what's frustrating. Did he fall on his sword for Gene fucking Smith and the higher ups? I'm not sure how Jim taking the fall is the best thing for the program.

Reading that thing by Brewster that Grad posted gave me chills.

I'm pissed off at Coach Tressel and the players, but I still have a hard time believing that Coach T kept all that info to himself.

Jack Daniels induced rant over.

Uh oh, there is a vacancy at Akron U now. Their coach was fired after two years and a 2-22 record. He was given the word while driving to his mother's funeral (stay classy Akron). Tressel could move back closer to where he grew up, go against Coach H at Kent once a year and once again don the sweater vest, although he would have to wear blue and yellow. :wink2:
