Is there a cellular plan in existence that wouldn't add up to "hundreds of dollars" over the span of a decade? Where do they break down the university funds spent on dry-erase markers and ink cartridges?

Look, this goes much deeper than cell phones buddy. I'm willing to guarantee that Tress also got a SIGNIFICANT amount of free water and Gatorade and other perishables during his tenure. Probably some tOSU clothing as well. Obvious cheating going on here.

I know a guy who knows a guy who says he heard Jim Tressel was given a PARKING SPACE!

The whole damn system has run amok & I don't care if that parking space gets the death penalty now.

And what about the paper cups used to traffic said liquids? I have it on good authority, from an un-named source (associated with the Greyhound Bus station parking lot), that Coach Tressel was provided a new cup for each beverage...whether he drank it all or not. Those things don't just grow on trees, you know!

alternate take:

ESPN editor: (with stogie in corner of mouth) I tell you to crank out a piece about how much moolah this bum bilked from Ohio taxpayers, and you hand me this garbage? I want you to delve deep! I want you to dig up the real dirt! I wanna know exactly how much Jim Tressel spent on TP...

(takes cigar out)

...and I ain't talkin' about Terrelle Pryor!

I'm not sure if this was posted yet, or if it belongs in this thread, or Tressel's thread, or wherever.

Nothing new, just a very strong article detailing how shitty of a job Dohrmann actually did. I wish I could force all CFB fans to read it so they can understand the difference between what the NCAA has found and what ESPN/SI is telling them.

JT

^^^

Bravo! What a good read. One thing to remember, JT's character does not depend on what these people said - he oftened reminded his players the same. If I remeber correctly, he often said that "you are not as good as what your read nor as bad as what they say".

JT knows who he is, and that is why he needs not to defend himself! I, on the other hand, gets a little emotional and want to defend JT with facts that others do not have.

:oh:

Tressel, Carr visit Browns practice; The Vest hopes to coach again
Posted by John Taylor on August 16, 2011

For most of the last decade, the careers of Jim Tressel and Lloyd Carr were intertwined due in large part to their being the head coaches at Ohio State and Michigan. The former famously had the latter?s number ? spawning the equally famous jab ?What kind of vehicle does Jim Tressel own? A Lloyd Carr? ? as Tressel?s Buckeyes beat Carr?s Wolverines six of the seven times they faced each other in The Game.

Carr retired following the 2007 season, while Tressel, of course, ?retired? as OSU?s coach amidst a cloud of controversy earlier this year.

Four years after they were last coaching on the same football field, the two were back on the practice field again Tuesday, albeit in a non-coaching capacity. Both Carr and Tressel were invited guests of the Cleveland Browns today, taking in the practice with, among others, team president Mike Holmgren and general manager Tom Heckert.

Tressel has long been a fan of the Browns ? his father Lee was the legendary head coach at Baldwin Wallace, practically right next door to the Browns? Berea facility ? and has even in the past been mentioned as a candidate for the head coaching job with the NFL club. While that never came to fruition, and he?s currently unemployed, Tressel did address his future following the practice and, in what may come as a surprise to some, said he would like to continue doing what?s been his job for the past three-and-a-half decades.

?I hope so,? Tressel was quoted as saying when asked by the Cleveland Plain Dealer?s Bill Livingston if he?d like to coach again. ?I?m taking it one day at a time.? Tressel did not mention at which level he would like to continue his coaching career, but did say, ?oh no, not right now? when asked if he would become a consultant for the Browns.

As for Carr, he was asked after the practice his feelings on the situation that led to Tressel?s ?retirement? from the Buckeyes.

?From a personal standpoint, it?s a tragedy. Jim will rebound,? Carr said according to Tom Withers of the Associated Press.

First-year Browns head coach Pat Shurmur enjoyed having the two collegiate coaching legends on the practice field, perhaps Carr in particular as Shurmur was recruited coming out of high school by the then-Michigan assistant.

?We had a lot of celebrities here today,? Shurmur said. ?It was fun. I enjoyed visiting with Lloyd Carr and Jim Tressel, guys that I?ve admired in coaching. Actually, Lloyd tried to recruit me out of high school. It was good to see them. I?m glad they came out and enjoyed practice.?

FYI - WKNR 850 is saying that Jim Tressel will join Vic Carucci on Browns Daily tonight. Not saying what segment, but the show is from 6pm to 7pm.

EDIT: The full show podcast is available on iTunes for those that can't listen live.

Tressel is keeping his options open
Thursday August 18, 2011
By Bill Rabinowitz
The Columbus Dispatch

In his first extended public comments since his forced resignation as Ohio State?s football coach in May, Jim Tressel said he was unsure whether he would pursue coaching again.

?I?m really uncertain,? Tressel said on the Cleveland Browns Daily show on radio station WKNR-AM in Cleveland. ?Because I?ve done this for so long and it?s all I know, (it?s good) having a little bit of time to think about where it is that God wants me to go and where I can make a difference and not simply have a job.

?I?ve been blessed. I?ve retired from the Ohio public employees system after 37 years, so I can eat. So I?m OK there. But I just have to find out what?s the best plan.?

During the 15-minute interview, Tressel wouldn't go into specifics about the tattoo scandal that forced his departure from OSU, but would talk about a number of other things:

Tressel says he has visited the training camps for the Browns, Bengals, Colts and Steelers. He says it's not becuase he's interested in considering a TV career as an NFL commentator, it's becuase he wanted to see some of his former players in action.

As for going into another head coaching job, Tressel says it's too early to say, given that every football program has its coaching staff lined up, and given the fact that he is "some months away" from knowing what he'd like to do next.

When asked if the punishment against him was too severe, he said, "I've had more blessings than things that are unfair," making reference to his 36 years in coaching experience.

Tressel says that since he became a coach for the first time in the 70s, things have changed drastically for the players. "The interest is so high, the money is so grand and there are so many entities involved."

One suggestion that Tressel made to the NCAA before he resigned from OSU was to consider making freshmen ineligible to play football, to give them some time to be students, and to, as he put it, "Kind of undo some of the things that are learned before kids even get to college."

He's not in favor of paying athletes, saying that even though it may help in some situations, he's not sure if colleges have enough in their budgets to pay any athletes.

As for student athletes getting involved with athletic boosters who want to pay or reward students, Tressel said that curbs need to be put on the adults who access students and not vice versa. "Kids don't go out and search for things, it's the adults who want to be near them that make things happen," Tressel said.

Trivisonno is a dingus.

Coach was also interviewed on the afternoon radio show on 100.7 in Cleveland. I forget the host's name, but he isn't famous for talking about sports - more of a comedy thing. They were very respectful to Tressel (which surprised me), as they called him "Coach" for most of the interview.

He answered the questions very Tressel-like, by not giving many definites. Nothing really surprising was revealed. He said he really isn't thinking much about coaching at any level at this point, and he didn't mention television at all. Meh - everything else is the same as what I've read on BP.

Tressel honored at first high school game of season
Aug 25, 2011
Written by Dave Summers

AVON -- Despite his scandalous exit from The Ohio State University, former Coach Jim Tressel is honored at the first high school football game of the season.

The Avon Athletic Director and Avon Lake head football coach wore the Tressel trademark sweater vest in honor of the former coach.

Tressel resigned from his post earlier this year after it was discovered he allowed some team members to play despite being considered ineligible.

Those participating say the honor acknowledges Tressel's support for high school football.

"You have to take a look at his full body of work and the second thing is, when you have friends -- when you have friends in times of trouble -- you don't turn your back on them," Avon Lake Coach Dave Dlugosz said.

"Things that he would do, like hand-written notes and things like that, you knew he really cared. That's never been around as long as I have been in athletics. It's great to have a guy that special to care about everyone in Ohio," Avon Athletic Director Eric Frombach said.

There was a rumor that Tressel would show up for the game.

While there were a lot of supporters hoping he would, the former Ohio State coach did not make it.

I heard part of the interview on the Alan Cox show on 100.7. Best afternoon show in Cleveland for anyone that hasn't listened to it. Sounds like JT is going to be content watching former players, friends, and relatives this fall. So take that as a big F off to to the guy at Yahoo that said JT needed to be suspended when he jumped to a new job right away.
Triv needs to get run over by a bus, but his fat ass would probably just bounce off and roll away.
