Seriously, no one in the nations largest compliance department knew this stuff was going down? Hard to believe.... No matter what happens in the coming months, all fans/members of the university owe JT thanks for falling on the proverbial sword here.

Bull...if Pryor has had many cars, how do you not see that?

College athletics and society is now worse off without Tressel.
Lets be realistic, the NCAA at its core is corrupt, these kids are not armature by any means, and these kids don't see a dime of the millions that are made off of them. Tressel knew what the kids did was wrong still even if the system is corrupt, but he took one for the kids, his kids. He could have easily just reported the infractions and saved his job, but that's not what someone does when they care about them, not what a father would do. I am deeply sadded by this current situation. I know Tressel still wanted to accept his punishment and remain the head coach and not give up, and show people how to accept the consequences of your actions and come out the other end, but I feel like the university forced their hand to damage control and in a way forced him out.

He may have broke the rules, but he was still ethical the whole way through in my opinion. The main crime he committed was now no longer being able to be a positive influence on more young people.

I can't agree with this. I think it's pretty clear that reporting it would have been the best for not only JT, but everyone involved. Saving five kids and hurting the rest of the team doesn't scream good to me.

He messed up, bad. Still a great person and coach, but that was a big mistake.

Richard Strauss: Tod und Verkl?rung (Death and Transfiguration), Op. 24

We'll leave the link to the article here, since JT is a focus of it, but let's have the discussion about the article in the 'Yahoo, tattoos, cars, thread.

Thanks.

If you are a college football fan, today is a sad day. As a big ten I find no joy in a tOSU without Jim Tressel. As a season ticket holder Tressel ball caused me great pains, I cursed him, he was in my nightmares. It came to the point I felt hopeless in the RR days. The fact remain if you are a true Michigan fan, you want to beat tOSU at their best, and they always were under Tressel.

I will miss sweater vest.

When was the last time both coaches in The Game were rookie coaches......if ever?
BB had some insights to this in the "New Coach vBet" thread-

Has Ohio State and TSUN ever restarted with a new coach in the same exact season (like right now).

I don't recall this ever happening.

Not since 1929, Harry Kipke for TSUN and Sam Willaman for tOSU.

I don't actually recall it, either. Or the similar occurrences in 1892 and 1897.

Still waiting for confirmation on the latter statements. :wink2:
