Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

Awesome. Not only is it my last quarter at OSU, but I have all of my finals this week. What a [Mark May]ty week/end to my OSU career...I guess I can say the same for JT. I'm just thankful that I was fortunate enough to witness a national championship in my lifetime, and from a great coach.

If Jim Tressel had to resign because of these shenanigans, than every coach at every major program might as well have their resignation letter written and ready to go. This kind of stuff goes on EVERYWHERE and everybody knows it. I think this is one part NCAA trying to show that they are still relevant (post Cam Newton) and one part media just looking for another scalp. Either way, I call bullshit. JT deserved punishment for his part in this whole mess, but he was hardly the fly in ointment. I'm sure he will go on to do many great things for the University, the State of Ohio, and the good ol' US of A. Godspeed Coach Tressel!

The media will have more of a field day with this now, arghhhh!
Jim Tressel has truly been the best coach around for our program. It took more than one person to start all of this yet he gets the walking papers.
I don't care what he has done wrong he will be so sadly missed by our Buckeye Nation and me.

Absolutely stunned about the news but the university WILL rebound. I have staunchly supported Tressel throughout this ordeal and will continue to do so. Fickell is the man and we all need to support him now. I hope recruiting won't take take too big of a hit. Anybody think there are possibly some new revelations coming out which forced the administration's hand??

Absolutely. Apparently OSU got a sneak peek of the SI article in Friday. I can't help but think that with the timing of the resignation and the article, it played a big part of the resignation.

And the timing of the cancellation of my SI subscription will make sense too.

Coach,

It's been a long and mosty fun road that you've lead us on over the last decade. Thanks for restoring the program to the greatness that we've now grown to expect.

I cannot begin to suggest that I fully understand all that has happened, nor do I really want to. Just know that you have my respect and firm belief that you did what you thought was the right thing to do... absent selfish motivations. I wish that there could have been a different ending to this story -- for all of us. Hold your head high.

Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye.

:oh:

Just really, really sad. Tress made a mistake but in my heart, he was my coach. Thank you for all you have done for the university Coach Tressel...these last 10 years have been the bulk of what I remember as an Ohio State fan, as I am still a young Buck. How blessed and privileged have I been to have been a fan under such a phenomenal era of Buckeye football under your watch. I wish you all the success in the world and hope that one day down the road you can be with the team in some capacity.

JT is a good person and coach. There is NO WAY to police a whole football team. Ultimately, it may have not been the deed but the lie to cover it up that was his downful. I really look for more to come out, as I feel Jim would have survived the findings so far.
I am not playing devils advocate, or saying because they did it too as an excuse, but if the NCAA and Mark Emmert are stupid enough to think far worse doesn't go on at other institutions then go ahead an pay each parent 180k as in Cam's case.
I hope everyone takes it as a lifes lesson though, it is ALWAYS the lie or coverup that makes a problem far worse
tOSU football program will survive, but most importantly,I hope everyone remembers JT, he lied to protect his players, more than himself. The 'AA are hypocrites on who they decide to punish or how they conduct business. Mark Emmert recruited a kid to Washington, he spent huge resources doing so.....well the same Emmert, now NCAA president, declares the same player...permanently ineligible, simply because the kid chose a different school. The people rendering justice should not come from any institution. I hope to live long enough to see tOSU in another championship game, God Bless all of you.
