Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

Watched the 2002 national championship game over break, and it's amazing to see how much he's aged since then. Now I'm not saying he can't bring Sexy Back because he still can, I'm just saying, he's gotten a little more gray :)

haha....i know.... i've noticed that for the past couple years. It almost brought sadness in me to think how much toll on him Coach is enduring while being our head man. BUT, he is the best man for the job.

As far as I know, JT has never been given a gatorade bath as Buckeyes HC. I think I've seen footage of such an instance following a YSU championsip, and he looked rather upset when it happened. Does anyone know if he has banned the tired and played gatorade shower celebration?

Personally, I think it's cliche and it ran its course a long time ago.

Cliche or not, I specifically remember a half bath after the 04 Alamo bowl.

Yeah, that's the only one I can think of where he was drenched (or lack thereof). Not sure if it's against his rules or not, but I'd be surprised to see it against Texas

half of that was one player running alongside dumping a water bottle on him after he escaped.

I remember that but I think they completely whiffed, or maybe got his pant leg a bit, and Tressel wasn't playing along. If it's his policy, I like it. The cold beverage shower is so beat that, if the coach doesn't try to avoid it, I don't see the point. On the other hand, the players seem to enjoy it, so that's cool. Mainly, I just think it's interesting that seemingly every in the country, except Tress, gets drenched after winning a big game toward the end of the year.

I was thinking he squirted it, but now that you mention it I think the player took the cap off and dumped it. The bottle didn't have much in it though. Good memories. :)

absolutely, becaus the sideline reporter (what's that dork's name? the one who wears the big aussie bush hat?) gave him a towel before they started the interview.

it was payback for JT giving him a collar stay before the game...

roll video....

For the most part, JT has avoided the post-game Gatorade showers. He's gotten doused once or twice, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's discouraged the practice.

I think it goes against "acting like you've been there before," not to mention it's celebrating an individual at the conclusion of a team game, as well as showing-up the coach on the opposite sideline.

I imagine it's one of those 'teaching moments' he shows his team about how NOT to behave.

Just a rumor but I've heard that JT just doesn't want his "Do" messed up.

It's because Ohio State has never won a big game toward the end of the year under Tressel. ESPN told me so.

Duh.

JT, I love you man, I really do, but c'mon wouldn't you consider giving up some of the playcalling duties? By no means do I think that playcalling caused the team to lose to Texas, but you have way too much on your plate and even the greatest of coaches couldn't handle the burden that you have put yourself under.

......or at least that is what I would say to him if he would give some homer like me the time of day. :)
