Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Seriously guys, don't worry about this. I talked to some of the football players and ALL that is changing is the material! http://www.myteamprints.com/images/college/osu/lrg/1171SICoverGinn.jpg that is a reason why we are getting new material. The sleeves aren't changing. The University has been trying to get this for a year now. So the new material is so that other teams cannot pull on them like in the picture above.

Maybe your "connections" arent so reliable after all. The whole damn jersey changed around.

Between number locations and losing the grey, the jersey is looking like a wisconsin jersey. Our school colors are not red and white, nor is it red and black. a hundred years ago, our proud school wanted something original, since "orange and black" was already taken so we went with Scarlett and GREY!!! Where the hell is the grey at?!? We arent Cinici, we arent Miami OH, we arent Bama, and we damn sure arent Wisky. We are THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, so lets get back to the basics! Add some grey in, lose the "finesse" style, because we are a football team that prides itself on "3 yards and a cloud of dust", not flamboyancy.

here's a photoshop of what the white's may look like... they look good but the home jerseys were too big of a sacrifice.

NEB, WISKY, MARYLAND, and UGA will all be making appearances in the shoe this year!

HAYN

Dont leave out Miami OH, and Alabama

PS. Whats with the tiger stripes on the OSU BBall jerseys?! I guess we are now going to be the damn Ohio State Bengal Tigers! Funny how the football team lost all of the grey, yet the basketball team picked it up and added more grey in. Maybe they will take the lack of good color on the jerseys and put it in a place we all have been bitching for it to be - the damn endzone!.....Seriously, our plans dont make sense. Lets have a classic hardwood arena with futuristic unis. Then lets hav an old-school stadium with modified unis!!!

so you guys along with us are going retro to about 20 years ago?
Yup, looks like it. In our case, I think it's a definite upgrade because we're dropping the much-maligned "calculator numbers" in favor of a more traditional font.

But in Ohio State's case, I think it's a minor downgrade stylistically. However, I think Ohio State's change could be because the cut of the uniform - particularly the sleeves - would probably make the Bucks' wide gray sleeve stripes look like crap, simply because there just wouldn't be enough room for them. The sleeves on football jerseys have been shrinking drastically over the last decade, and it looks like it has claimed tOSU's sleeve stripes as a victim.

I was there today at the Spring Preview also and when I first saw it up close my initial reaction was one of being "underwhelmed" rather than hating it.

I like the "old" Jerseys (how sad that they now are considered the old ones) much better as well, but Sports Information Director, Steve Snapp told us that "the players love them". (whether that means how they look, fit, or feel...I don't know) So I figure once I see Marcus Freeman level a QB a time or two, and if it helps TGII break one or two more tackles for TDs, then I'll probably warm up to them soon enough.

I want our traditions to stay true to form, no doubt. But I'd root for the Bucks in a potato sack. As long as they don't make a hidious mockery of what "The Men of the Scarlet & Grey" look like (and I don't think they did), then I won't lose too much sleep over it.

(I do agree with several who said they needed to have some Grey left in the Jersey though)

padrig..how scarlet arwe they? one picture they look orange and another they look maroon..
in terms of maroon, are you referring to the longsleeve replica jerseys? That is typical shiny jersey material... I wouldn't use that as a predictor of how our drifit jerseys will look. Your question is a good one, they better not look anything like this "enhancement" of Georgia's red:

Dont like them.
Really, adding gray to the sleeves (just replacing the white) would be a drastic improvement.
But I am happy too see that the color doesn't look nearly as bad on my home monitor as it looked at work, hopefully in person it will look better yet.
