Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Hate to break this to you, but this is the first jersey change in 20 years...

Katzenmoyer must be a lot smaller than I remember since those numbers look huge on his scrawny shoulders.

The numbers have been made smaller over the years.

Also, if you look at the shoulder pads, they have gotten smaller over the years. Try putting the jersey that Kat is wearing on AJ's pads, and the numbers would be hanging over the front and back.

Thats just what I think tho.

Sorry can't use those helmets....there is no grey in these pics and their is some black. :)

If we bring those back, lets get crazy and bring back the red helmets of the 60s! lol :

I do think though the material will be nice. My good friend Dom Hixon (WR at Akron) said that the jersey switch felt alot better. Allowed the sweat to bleed out better and be more comfortable.

A one-season commemoration jersey isn't a "change"...they went right back to the original uniform the next season, and the only change for the 1993 jersey was the addition of the black numbers. Was it technically different from the previous year's jersey? Yes. Was it a "change"?

What do you consider a change then?

Muck beat me to it.

The numbers used to be larger.

Here's Carlos Snow. Also most players play with the tight sleeves these days although I wouldn't consider it a change.

Also, Russell Athletic used to make the jerseys and now Nike does and there was a slight change when they switched manufacturers.

I don't consider adjusting the size of shoulder numbers a "uniform change".

So a change isn't a change unless it fits your definition?

When was the Block O added to the collar?

When were the stripes switched from wrap around to 3/4?

When were they repositioned on the sleeves?

There has been continous minor tinkering with the uniforms throughout the last twenty years. This change is by far the biggest in quite some time, but they uniforms have hardly been static.

I think the jerseys have come a long way from the VERY large, bulky number and jerseys that are draping over the player, to the Eddie George style tear-aways with shorter sleeves. Now the fad is tighter and lighter fabric with no grey.

JUST BE GLAD WE ARENT MICHIGAN! Theirs looks 100 times worse.

Alright, wise ass....say if the numbers on Hawk's jersey remained the same size on those on Katzenmoyer's, would you consider it a "uniform change" because the neck logos are slightly different? :roll1:

There's a big difference between tweaking or "tinkering" with a jersey design and a flatout change.

Though jerseys dont really matter i think All they have to do is put a gray stripe in between the white and i would love them. You shouldnt mess with a tradition like the gray stripes on the sleeves of tOSU jersey. Everytime i look at them i think of UGA. I encourage everyone to send the atheltic department an email regarding you disapproval of these jerseys. Though they will probably not change them this year, hopefully next they will be gone.

Well by your definition then the new uniforms are the same as the old. The jerseys are still scarlet, the numbers are white, there are still numbers on the shoulder, and there are still stripes on the sleeves.

Looks like you're getting called out and not liking it.

Glad to see you've gotten your brazen claim that there have been no uniform "changes" in the last 20 years to fit into your tidy definition.

You crack me up!

Right, and a professional teacher can't tell the different between the black-and-white definition of a term and the general spirit of the term. :roll1:

See my above reply to Muck...

can anybody shop a photo of a player just with these new sleeves? at the moment im indifferent leaning towards yuck. i was all for dri fit jerseys and they are way better than normal jerseys so ill go with pros and cons here in my thoughts

Pros
dri fit design
smoother look
new sleeve design matches with helmet and pants

Cons
no gray
smoother look and coloring but lacks luster of original scarlet
seems blander with dull pant and jersey color
how will it go together witht he rest of uni?

i guess we all get to find out in about 2 weeks what thye look like

The change in stripes is "easily-noticeable", so per my definition it's change. The only ones "calling me out" are the ones who can't grasp a simple concept...
