No, it's not. Players who will be here 4-5 years don't get to dictate 120 years of tradition. It's a fucking honor to wear scarlet and gray. If they wanted to wear black, they should've verbaled to Iowa.

Was it Oh8ch's? I remember Clarity had it in his sig on BN around the NC; not sure where it originated. I was new. Bandwagoner, you know.

Just for the record, the personal attacks started with your "sad saps" comment. Now, how about stop being so damn sensitive and man up? You started the attacks, and when you get some joking attacks back at you (you really think "you're not even cool enough to be GeorgiaBuck1" is a serious attack on your character?), you start moping around like a teenager picked last in a kickball game. I'll tell you what I tell my 12 year old daughter... you started the personal attacks, so how about you:

Now, as far as the jersey's go. I stand by my original comments... they suck. I was "ok" with the 2009 and 2010 jersey's we wore for Michigan simply because there was an essense of "throw back" involved with them. I could still manage to work in the tradition angle somewhere in my head. But, an all-black version with some scarlet and gray highlights has nothing to do with any previous Buckeye jersey. Can't swing a tradition angle there at all. Just another new jersey design that exists simply for getting another $75 out of fans' pockets.

I understand the viewpoints of the guys who think the Pro Combat uniforms in one game per season somehow diminish Buckeye tradition, but I also respectfully disagree. New style jerseys that are flashy looking are appealing to teenagers, and are very integral in recruiting. How do you think Oregon came from nothing into relevance and then into top contender status? Flashy jerseys. The traditionalists don't like them and don't necessarily "get" today's style, but who cares? They sell to 16-18 year old kids and make them want to play football in them, which is all that matters. Maryland is the most recent school to implement the Oregon model of having hundreds of different jersey combo's. They will start getting better and better recruiting classes and will become a more competitive program. I also want to point out that I am in no way advocating that Ohio State should take this route, as it is obviously not needed.

Now I understand that Ohio State and other schools that are all about tradition and are basically self-recruiting (even in the face of a media-driven scandal) don't need to revamp their uniforms to be relevant, but one big game a year in a new-look jersey can't hurt recruiting, which is the most important part of a college football program. I'm also all for a black/dark gray look against Wisconsin, and hopefully the crowd will be full of the same color towels. Let's make it nice and intimidating for Russel Wilson.

Exactly. They had flashy uniforms for at least a decade, and despite playing in a region with only one strong program, they stunk at recruiting despite plenty of success on the field.

"the kids like them" is a very weak argument. There is very little they wouldn't like.

Kids also like ESPN, MTV, skipping class, writing incoherently online, etc.

Should fans have a say in if the university wears the Pro Combat jerseys or not? If players on the team like them, who's more important than them? I get that the "traditionalists" don't like them, but what does that ultimately mean? Former players haven't been very outspoken out about it and they ARE the tradition.
