Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

The real-life jerseys looked a darker gray than the media-posted ones. I think they'd be quite viable option if they did indeed make the stripes and numerals scarlet, similar to my ghetto-MS Paint version I posted a few days ago:

I did like the shade of gray in the pants, too...just put the red and white stripes back. Couple that with going back to the regular metal-flake silver helmet...bad ass.

Not going to lie, I went all "get off my lawn" status 3 minutes into the game saying I was glad the team was more concerned about the jerseys all week instead of the game. I was mad.

They actually looked fine. Atmosphere was amazing. No complaints now.

Exactly my biggest problem with these types of games. Nike fcuks up our situation.

Take those gray unis and bury them at the farthest spot in the practice fields. Home unis are scarlet jerseys with gray/silver pants with red piping. Gray helmets with black buckeye leaves. Let the visitors wear what they want. Some tradition is sacrosanct. Let Nike mess with the visiting unis if they want. Those gray things looked more like what tOSU Buckeyes would wear at an away game. I agree with red numbers on the gray, except when we are away. Did I say that already? Go Bucks! (queue 'Sharp Dressed Man' from ZZ Top)/

My mom was trying to find the game when my wife and I were there. She doesn't really care that much about football, but wanted to share the experience, maybe see us on TV or something. She finds the game and was like "that's not Ohio State, what game is this, it's supposed to be Ohio State."

Nike - Messing with old lady's enjoyment of the game.

If it's causing old ladies to get confused and frustrated, then I might be in favor of even more alternates.

i really want to complain about the alternate unis, but we keep winning wearing the damn things. i didn't mind the all grey so much, really thought it was going to look horrid. but wasn't too bad. i will say this though. if you plan to use something other than the standard issue buckeye leaves on the helmets. id like them to change them from buckeye leaves to the decals of the teams they earned the stickers by beating. this is very ala wwII kill insignia.

actually, that would be a pretty cool end of year reward for the players regardless.

I'm sorry, but those jerseys sucked. And I really hate when they fuck with the helmet. We have one of the best looking helmets but feel the need to pull this Nike/oregon bullcrap.

And I am hearing we could be going all white for the game against UM? This isn't Ped St

I'll live but I wonder why you would mess with an already great uniform. Bama doesn't need to come out in all black uniforms to attract recruits.

We've discussed the previous 10 pages. But in short, the football team uses alternates:
1. Because the kids like them(team members and recruits)
2. Its makes Nike a bunch of money
3. It makes tOSU a bunch of money

Yes, we know, Bama (nor Ped St.) Utilizes alternates, they're in the small minority. Good for them. I doubt it stays that way, and once Saban retires expect full on hounds tooth, all black, all crimson, etc.
Fans will have to do deal with if in short, alternates are here to stay and will continue to be worn in big games annually
