Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

You guys crack me up.

First you yenta about like a bunch of high school critiquing clothing.

2nd, all we heard last year was everyone saying it wasn't a "TRUE" throwback b/c the helmet was not exact, now that they get a helmet that "may" look similar, people are bitching about it.

Remember guys, we're talking laundry.
Too you.

Personally, I love tOSU's uniforms just the way they are. It's a part of the program's identity. Throwing this hip-hop wannabe rap video garbage on my favorite team irritates me. It looks stupid IMO. To me, it's like when I venture out into public and see teenage boys wearing jeans that make them look like girls, or their hat all goofy or comb their hair forward. It looks stupid and makes me want to slap them...or their parents for allowing them out into public like that. Besides, this is a message board, do you really expect this to not be discussed and for people to have opinions on it?

1942 they wore a scarlet helmet. for once nike followed it correctly. gotta have a scarlet helmet to go with that 1942 uniform

Yeah, I guess we shouldn't give them too much grief for sticking to the actual throwback since we destroyed them for their "throwback" last year.

There were music videos in 1942?

I'm more in your camp on this, I suppose, but it's more because it's just a pointless gimmick designed to give Nike something else to sell. But, it's the nature of the beast, any more, I think. Nike gets exposure, Ohio State gets a check. It's not going away, I'm afraid.

Yeah

That and you KNOW for this series that the helmet is getting a redesign for each team (be interesting to see if they have the balls to do this for bama though).

When your talking about changing our current helmet, which is pretty much perfect, there isn't a lot of options that would look good and not be overly similar imo.

That is not an exact replica of the '42 uniform. Close, but too "hip hop" for me. It looks like the Tampa Bay Bucs home uni in a way IMO.

Ah hell, I'll give some credit, it's better than the hatchet job I expected and definitely better than all those other abominations Nike has done. Maybe it'll look better on an actual player.

Let me put it this way, would you rather OSU win the National title wearing a "different" uniform or go 10-2 but protecting their "tradition"?

Uniforms like society are not static. The Buckeye uniforms have gone through many changes over the years.

I agree with your main point - stop fucking with our unis.
