Jerry Tarkanian, Dead at 84

Hall of Fame coach Jerry Tarkanian, who built a basketball dynasty at UNLV but was defined more by his decades-long battle with the NCAA, died Wednesday after several years of health issues. He was 84.

His teams were fucking fun to watch. Always rooted for them, especially against Duke. Say what you want about the man, but CBB could use a few more characters on its sidelines and Tark the Shark was a character. One of the best.

A thread for Tark the Shark and not one for Dean Smith I did mention the Smith passing in a post about the Big Ten basketball because he affected so many past and present coaches in the BIG.

I always felt that Tarkanian was a little shady.
