Jason Kidd traded to Dallas - finally

Is it me or would Dallas have been better off if they had held on to Nash a few years ago? Cavs fans have no room to argue here. We don't have anything to give like this trade. I wouldn't even want to give Gooden, Hughes, and 2 firsts for Kidd.

If I were a Nets' fan, I'd be pleased, but not ecstatic. Harris is a nice talent, and Diop plays good post defense. Plus, you get two first-rounders, and you get rid of Kidd's contract.

For Dallas, it's make or break time. They'll have to move Terry to the 2-spot.

Because Terry is nothing like Kidd?

That is not what I mean...I know that Kidd is better than Terry, but Terry is more than serviceable at the PG...It will hurt the Mavs more than help them if they have to go with a backcourt of Terry and Kidd IMO due to the fact that they are both going to be liabilities on the defensive end against say a team like SA when they have Parker and Ginoblie...

Yeah it is good to have a PG rotation of Terry and Kidd, but each needs about 35 minutes or so in big games, if not more...That can't happen unless you put both on the court...

What is Terry going to make of coming off the bench...

Dallas also losses 4 out of their top 10 in this trade for 1 guy in Kidd...They also lose Diop while not great by any stretch, but other than Dirk and Dampier they have no size unless they are going to lean on Brandon Bass and Juwan Howard off the bench...

This is the type of trade I am glad Cleveland didn't make...I think it does more to hurt than to help...

Yes a top 4 of Dirk, Howard, Kidd, and Terry sounds great, but look at the mismatches that teams can present against them...

two small guys in Kidd and Terry who aren't great defenders...Nash and Barbosa will eat those two up...Then you look at Dirk who is not a great defender, and really they are left with Howard as the key defender and he can't play all game...

They don't have a bench and the guys they do have are wearing down in Eddie Jones, Juwan Howard, and so is Kidd...

Someone got a little happy getting Kidd and went overbaord...Mark Cuban...

We need to keep our firsts. This is going to be a decent year to draft late. I just want to see some sort of trade this year, SOMETHING I dodnt care if we trade Hughes for three nickles a lollypop and a AAA baseball prospect... just something that lets me know Ferry knows the trading window is open.

Does Terry play PG for Dallas? I always thought he was a SG and mainly just a scorer. His stats sure seem to back that up(14 ppg, 2 rpg, 3 apg).

NOBODY wants Hughes, not just Cavs fans.

He is a scorer, but he does handle pg duties along with Harris...Now he is probably going to slide to the 2g but with Harris, you have a long lanky defender even tho he is only 6'3', but now with Kidd and Terry you are at a liability defensively...

Dallas has never really seemed to care about defense anyway.

It's funny how the Gasol to LA trade has gotten a lot of teams to make some pretty drastic changes. I am curious if the Spurs are going to make anything happen or just stay with what's been working for them. Just like the Shaq trade, I am curious to see how this is going to work, Kidd is a player and can do some pretty amazing stuff, but Cuban has too much faith in Dirk and after their performance last year, little leaves me to believe that they are a threat. I know Kidd is happy to be out of NJ, but that contract is a nightmare, if the Nets are going to rebuild this was a great start, draft picks, some good players and to get rid of that financial nightmare.

Yeah, like Yiri Welch for a 1st round pick. Please there just aren't too many moves the Cavs can make . Next year my friend, next year.

Marvelous, Dallas trades away Jason Kidd, and then brings him back in the twilight of his career. Now all the Mavs need to do is bring back Jimmy Jackson out of retirement, and find Jamal Mashburn, and they reunite the '3 J's'. what a great threesome that was, but Dallas pissed it away......

It's you. Nobody else would ever think that letting go a guy that wins a couple of MVPs with another team was a bad idea. :tongue2:
