James Robinson (WR Florida Gators)

Yeah. Total bone head move but I made just as bad if not worse mistakes that could have had terrible consequences too I just got lucky. Possession of weed in and of itself is relatively minor and it's even legal in many states. To have a major impact on your future line that seems overly harsh to me. I mean OJ killed two people and got nothing for Peet's sake.
Could be a good thing for the kid if he takes it as an opportunity to better himself. He's a young man who has many paths yet to choose, maybe he'll start picking better ones.

All true. Still feel bad for the kid. Hopefully it's a wake up call. People forget these are kids thrust into the spotlight and thinking they have all kinds of opportunities. And then..........reality hits.

That would be very hard for am immature mind to handle. This week, the young man is no longer a kid. Harsh realities come flooding in and I personally wouldn't have been prepared to deal with that.

Hope he changes course.

I hear what you're saying in your previous posts, but kids who are rated 4star and 5star(and even 3) know that they're not normal kids. If you or I got arrested with pot visiting a school, no one cares, so that argument means nothing. These elite HS football talents know that their every move is constantly watched, heck articles were written about him blaming OSU, no article would ever be written about us if we were arrested. He needs to get it together, and hopefully that 2nd chance pays off for him, wherever he goes

All of this stems from the fact that he hasn't proved anything yet. He's just potential and not elite potential either. Think DPJ would have so many top tier schools back away if the same thing happened to him? Doubtful. Some would but he would still have plenty of good options. His path toward the league would proportionately be less affected IMO.

I guess that's what bothers me. Cases like this just amplify the meat market aspect of sports. If you are really good, your crimes are less offensive. If you are average, teams won't take the risk. Just ask Tyreek Hill. Those jets sure help wash away the grime.

McElwin is desperate, he needs to do something to come close to winning the crappy SEC Least, and he needs to also to beat FSU (which ain't happening no time soon)

Lol he's won the East both years he's been there. Granted, that's not saying much.

He DOES need to figure out how to score more points. That's what his allure was coming in for sure...which is why I can see why he's willing to gamble on cases like this.

They scored plenty of points in the SECCG. Unfortunately, half of them were for Alabama.

“Just my appearance and how I was looked at, people always thought I was a bad kid,” Robinson said. “When I got in trouble, people were like, ‘I told you so.’ I’ll always regret that.”
Oh...so you regret getting caught.

Q: What was the biggest rumor about you that wasn’t true?

“That I was gang-banger. I started hearing it toward the end of my sophomore year, going into my junior year. I won’t say his name, but a coach started the rumor. I just stopped hanging around people and stayed to myself. But I’ve never been in a gang.”
Q: Which school disappointed you the most during recruiting?

A: “Florida. For them to be my dream school and slack on recruiting, it was disappointing. But everything changed with them that last month. Florida State also disappointed me, just the vibe I got from them. I wasn’t comfortable going to a school that has a coach who doesn’t like me. That wouldn’t have been a good situation.”

This is probably harsh for a kid fresh out of high school - and I know we don't have all saints and Rhodes scholars on the team - but, reading that interview.......seems like bullet dodged on this one.
