However, just sayin': When the game is on the line (i.e. trailing by 6, 4th and 12 on the 14 yard line, with 39 seconds to go) you have to know where you need to get to for a first down. You can't try to avoid a hit by spinning out of bounds a yard (or so) short of a first down.

You need to know where the first down is; and at least put your shoulder down and attempt to drive for the first down yardage.

He probably hadn't 'reset' his personal first down marker after the false start pushed them back. Tough

I noticed this too when I was watching. Thought it was odd when I saw this angle and wondered where the first down marker was.

Methinks that a couple of seasons back all the chain gangs were moved 3 - 4 feet off the sidelines for safety reasons. Will check. Understand that Columbia PD asking for help from the Tallahassee PD while looking into this matter very closely.

And then as an extra added bonus, I write, the TV yellow line also comes into play and is nowhere near the chain gang's mark. Hmmmmm. 1. The kid looked at the video board, saw the yellow line, crossed it, got out of bounds. 2. The kid looked for the yellow line on the field and couldn't spot it. 3. Something 's rotten in Columbia? 4. ACC, ACC, ACC
