So... I watched most of the game. Not all.
Was there a bad coaching blunder on Franklin's part?

I’ve been discussing this with friends, but his decision to combine statue Drew Allar with an OC who likes to do goofy crap and managed to make said statue’s best attribute being a running threat is a head coaching blunder. And hiring a DC who’s track record of taking three years to implement an effective system couldn’t be clearer for a one year title run now was also a major head coaching blunder.

He screwed himself before the year began. He either needed to dump Allar and get a gimmicky weird QB to pair with his gimmicky weird OC, or he needed to dump his OC and get someone who would at least try to use Allar’s arm to compliment the run game rather than making him a part of the run game.

And he needed to hire a DC who’s track record wasn’t extremely well known for being complicated as shit in ways that are impossible for players to master in year one.

To a point. Some of that spending has to be in investments. Depending on the source, his net worth is between $12-$25 million. If he wanted to retire from the job, he would most likely negotiate a reduced buyout leaving him with millions being payed out over a period of years.
