Jalen Hurd (RB Tennessee, transfer to Baylor)

Man, is that program crumbling, or what?

Well, I guess it's essentially been ashes since they kicked Phat Phil to the curb, but after coming into the season with high expectations, it's just raining shit in Knoxville.

I believe he mentioned something about wanting to move to TE/changing positions altogether. Haven't heard much about him since he announced he was transferring though.

My bad.

I agree.
I'd be stocked if he can graduate and be eligible this fall.
Doesn't move the needle if he has to sit out a year.
In fact I doubt he plays a down for any team in CFB if he has to sit for a year.

Just putting this out there. I know he talked about wanting to change positions. Keep in mind a few things: 1) his plan could have changed since that statement 2) he was just using that as a convenient excuse to cover his exit.

Either way, I'm sure the kid sees a potential opportunity to earn PT right away assuming he would be a grad transfer.

And he knows he has a shot at a NC and was obviously impressed with tOSU originally. The offense in midst of a major overhaul, AP's former OC is on board, etc. To me, every position on offense is up for grabs except JT, JJ, BP and MJ. Those are the only spots I consider a lock. He doesn't play on the OL or QB so he's got a real shot to step right in and compete for a spot.

I was skeptical of the kid like I always am when I first hear of a transfer. I'm old school and assume the kid must have problems. But in some cases it's the school that is the problem. Considering he's coming from the dumpster fire tha is UT I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt. And Urb recruited him quite a bit so he must have some insight on the young man.

RB depth is an obvious concern. If Mikey pulls a Brax and goes down before the season, then what? A smallish Run DMC, an unproven Williams and Dobbins as a true frosh coming off an injury. That depth is scary thin.

Don't think he'd come here as a RB. Supposedly longer term injury concerns played a big part in his position and college switch... esp. with that extremely upright running style he has.

He'd be a WR/TE playmaker for us and a def mismatch physically whoever he's lined up against. Hoping he can graduate early and potentially make being in S&G a reality

From what I've heard down here in Nashville, it seems Hurd wants to play at Ohio State but Ohio State only wants Hurd if he is a graduate transfer. The staff does not want to sit on him for a year holding his scholarship risking he may never play.

He would bring a lot of versatility to the offense. The thought is play him as a traditional H (RB-TE hybrid) but still have the Urban Meyer H (RB-WR hybrid) and play them depending on matchup. I'd like to think that Kevin Wilson would have some fun with that.

Is he anywhere close to graduating?
