Jacksonville State 49, Ole Miss 48, 2OT FINAL

Just in case anyone was unaware of how dominant the SEC is

Jacksonville St vs. Mississippi - Recap - September 4, 2010 - College Football - SI.com

Bear in mind that even a mid tier SEC team would win the Big Ten easily, as they are so much faster than we are. Don't let the fact that they just got beat by an FCS team fool you, Ole Miss could still probably win the Big Ten this year, beating tOSU by at least 21 points.

We clearly don't understand because we don't play in the SEC. The occasional loss to a lesser team is from the beating that teams in the SEC give each other every week. It's not like they were fresh for this game, they practiced against themselves, an SEC team.

Just remember fellow buckeye fans, if we ever have to play an SEC team again, there's no way we can compete with them, because they are practically an NFL division.

Oh, and the only reason that JSU was able to win is because of their southern FCS speed.

The fact that Masoli was part of this game makes it somehow sweeter as well.

Enjoy!

Go Bucks!

Well......that totally invalidates those four straight BCSCG wins....

...and Appalachian State back atcha. :p

But I am very glad the Cocks won today in Oxford.

Wow, nice finish! Reminded me a lot of the scUM/Appy State game from a few years ago, just not quite as much of an epic fail. Still, the playing going for 2 during the 2nd OT...I thought the QB was gonna be sacked and it would be a let down. Glad Jackonville didn't disapoint!

Simply pointing out, any given saturday. Recognizing you're not one of those SEC types I'm referring to (i read here a lot more than I post), I have heard so much of these things about mid tier teams winning the big ten. Just relishing my point being proven is all. :)

prolly believe that because it's true

True Story, Louisiana 1812, Indiana 1816, Illinois 1818.

Just for the record though, Ohio 1803 :oh:

Most of the LSU fans I met in NOLA were really cool. It was the Florida fans that drove out just to harass buckeye fans that pissed me off.

I absolutely love this though. I didn't see this post and started another thread. Won't hurt my feelings if it isn't moved, but I won't repeat any of it here.

All the SEC chants pretty much sum it up.

I watched the end of this game on ESPN thanks to bonus coverage and Jacksonville State played hard and smart. Keep in mind that Jacksonville State was led by a true freshman quarterback playing in his first college football game. If I read correctly, Jack State's quarterback was the reigning Mr. Alabama in football. Aside from making fun of an SECheat team for losing to an FCS team at home (made even sweeter by the fact that Ole Miss is a chronic and blatant over-signer and a fairly classless program), the 4th and 15 touchdown pass in the 2nd overtime by the Jack State quarterback was beautiful. Also, kudos to them for going for two and for the win and for overcoming a 21 point halftime deficit.

Exactly. Everybody except the SEC fans posting in this thread doesn't hate the SEC, they're all just naturally rooting for a member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

The SEC looked bad this weekend. On the flipside...the Big Ten looked good. Illinois was in it until the end with Missouri...a much better than expected effort...and Purdue hung with a much improved Notre Dame squad. And the rest of the conference won, many of which in more than impressive fashion.

Northwestern beats Vandy...showing that Big Ten bottom feeder is better than SEC bottom feeder. Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, and Wisconsin all win big. Indiana wins big too, but against a much lesser opponent. But still, it's Indiana. Penn State doesn't impress, but still pulls way ahead in the end. Minnesota wins...which is a good thing no matter who they are playing. And then Illinois and Purdue lose, as they were expected to do, but both held their own, even though they were outmatched.

You all may not agree...but I really feel the Big Ten held it's own in week one.

On the flip side in the SEC. Florida looked awful against a bad MAC team. Ole Miss lost to a Jacksonville State??? Auburn gave up 26 points to Arkansas State??? Vandy lost to a Big Ten team. And LSU only won by 6 against a UNC team who pretty much was playing all second string. But the rest of the SEC played cupcakes that belong in D3, and won by big margins, kind of like OSU did against Marshall (a team who won a bowl game last year.)

I guess my point is this. When the SEC actually played somebody (and sometimes when they even didn't, like Ole Miss) they struggled. The Big Ten played much more difficult teams, and looked better.

SEC = soft. I wish we were playing Florida next week.

I'm glad you're not. Not after seeing the first game we try to use a revamped offensive system that does not use a Tebow like QB. I bet you hoped you played us after the 2005 Bama game when Urban was trying to make Leak run the game like Smith and we looked like [censored]. You got to play us about 20 games after Urban abandoned the spread offense he had been using.

UF has been using the Tebow/Smith QB style oriented offense since the spring of 2007. This was our first game trying to find a new offensive style using a different OC than we had in 2006. I do not expect a smooth transition, even though everyone assumed we would just adjust and revamp in a couple of weeks. Life is not like that. Catch us at the end of the year.

And one more thing. If LSU and Ole Miss* and Florida suck, that usually means that someone like the Mutts or Auburn or Arkansas will take their place. Which is why we have three different teams winning BCSNCs in four years and why Auburn is still whining about why they were not picked to play despite an 11-0 record.

So I will take this first week and give it the validity that last years Bucks Navy game had as a prognostication tool.
