IUPUI +26.5 at tOSU (ov/un 127.5) 7 ET Tonight, BTN

They looked like a team that hadn't played in 10 days - particularly in the first half. Little defensive intensity. No offensive flow. I don't think we have another 10 day layoff, so no worries.

And as good as Sully looked I thought the play of the game was by Lauderdale playing behind Sullinger and blocking a shot from the man Sullinger was guarding.

Still looking for the deep bench I heard about before the season. . If/when that bench arrives I will go back to my projection that this could be the best OSU team since the 60s. I think it's just Matta's way of bring a team around.

Yeah at this point Matta seems the most comfortable with the 5 guys he played the whole 2nd half. Which is ok for now i suppose, but I would like other guys to be able to sub in once in awhile without us missing a beat.

Titus tweets:
clubtrillion Have we really played 5 guys entire 2nd half? I love him, but Thad (I can call him that now, right?) subs like it's a video game sometimes.

I completely disagree. The team recognized that IUPUI had no answer for Jared and fed him the ball the way Charlie Weis's mommy fed him cheeseburgers. Unselfish team play that got us the win.

In my opinion, this game was not so much a matter of Ohio State playing badly (though obviously not our best effort) as it was IUPUI playing really, really well. This is how mid-majors pull upsets.

I agree. IUPUI was hitting some crazy shots they would not make 10% of the time. Some contested threes, fading jumpshots with guys all over them, threes 4+ feet behind the line, etc. The OSU D did give them some open looks, but this is a 20+ point game on a normal night. OSU did not play the best, but some of the stuff IUPUI was throwing up and in was ridiculous, especially for a team of that caliber. I give them credit, they played hard, tough defense and played a smart game for the most part. Yet the 34-14 run was more indicative of the difference between these two teams. IUPUI finally stopped hitting everything, especially from behind the arc. Then it just fell apart for them.

Regarding no subs in the second half... I was at the game with my brother and around the 5:00 mark commented to him that I didn't see any subs the entire half. The only sub was Thomas for Lighty with a minute or two left in the game. My thought is Matta wanted to keep his best defenders on the floor since IUPUI was hitting some crazy shots, especially in the first half. If Lauderdale were brought in he or Sully would have had to guard a small forward and would have created match-up issues and I don't think Matta fully trusts Thomas on the defensive end of the court. Something must have worked though (or the Bucks finally woke up on defense) because IUPUI only scored 14 points from about the 13 minute mark on.
