Now, the mom will be coming up with all kinds of excuses why she is not cleaning and cooking like she should.
Do. Not. Buy. It. Tell her in no uncertain terms that if 16 year old South American Indian women can drop a litter and hours later be standing in a river slapping their husbands' breach cloths clean against a rock, there is no reason for her not to have supper on the table - given all the labor saving devices today, and the fact that they can get potable water from the faucet.
I'd give her till the NFC playoffs are over to collect herself, but no more.
And one more thing - her weight. If you can stay trim while you have a daughter, she can too. Tell her if her butt is too big now...don't let her get complacent. She will need to be in great shape for the multi-tasking. Duct tape her bikini to the refrigerator door. This reminds her that you still care for her, and that your going to Hooters is your way of retaining the vision of her pre-baby figure in your heart and mind. IOW, a Hooters gift card for the family is a good mother's day gift, even if you are the one using it. Remember that it is gestures like that she will treasure for years to come.
