Last year had Ohio State been bowl eligible the Buckeyes wouldn't have been in the BSCNCG. You can't factually say for 100% fact that OSU will always be fine.

Maybe there is an argument to be made that people ranked OSU lower than they would have been if they were eligible, but that is only opinion. But using last year's rankings and computer polls shows that as the voting/rankings stood, Ohio State was outside looking in.

I have to agree here,but it's not the end of the world. Just going undefeated in the B1G isn't going to get us there. The Buckeyes may have to load up the OOS to prove they're worthy.

There was a strong headwind to get Notre Dame in the National Championship last year and it would have been tough for us to have gotten picked over them. That is a reality we will have to be dealing with now.
But a four team play-off gives us hope we can get into the play-off and if we do anything is possible.
Better recruiting by Coach and staff will increase our chances. Head to head, I like our chances against ND.
And of course, we will be fighting ND for recruits more and more now. As well as battles with TSUN for Ohio kids.

You tell me the last time a top OSU team has been left out of anything and I'll start believing a weak B1G will hurt us.

Recipe for success:
1) Beat TTUN every year.
2) Don't lose to shitty teams.
3) Schedule and beat at least 1 solid, OOC game every year.
4) Win the B1G.

I'll bet that a one loss Ohio State will get the same treatment as any other elite, 1-loss program. Until something other than that happens, we're fine. If I'm Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc., I might be a little more concerned. It's just hard for me to believe one of the big boys would ever be left out.

Don't know if anything is going to come off of it, but if we eventually get Nelson, it would be a major coup, IMO. Like I said:

Osu won't always be fine, because they will fail in their title quest more often than not, at least in the system we are used to, which is more exclusive than what could be around the corner.

I haven't heard a compelling argument for why a deserving osu team will be left out of the title hunt. I have heard worrying about conference perception and stereotypes.

As for this 12-1 OSU team being tossed around, is it really a travesty if they are left out if they can't beat that caliber of schedule?
