iPhone/iPad App Recommendations & Reviews

bout [censored]ing time. didn't they sort of imply without saying the actual words that it would be ready for the beginning season?

now all I need is for verizon to add them.....or them to add verizon. however that works.

I seem to remember them saying "ready for football season". I guess it is still football season... for some of us.

BTN2go: It's a universal app, and on the iPhone it looks and acts exactly like it does on the iPad, only smaller. That's not always the case with universal apps, and it's not necessarily a good thing in this case. It seems a bit cluttered on the smaller screen. It seems serviceable on the phone though, and is certainly better than nothing in a pinch.

I like how scores can be turned on or off - if you miss the game live and want to watch the replay, you can have the app set up to not show the score of the game in its menus.

Support for notifications seems to be lacking. I'd like to be able to have alerts or banners for whenever something Buckeye related is coming on live or being made available for replay.

Also, this app is regretfully missing many of the features that were in their old football and basketball scoreboard apps. It would be nice to be able to see more schedules, scores & standings thru the app, or at least make a separate app for it. I'm still a little upset that they gimped the old apps almost a year ago.

But enough with the bitching. It's looking good so far - I'm watching a replay of Ohio State-Florida basketball and it's working pretty well. The video quality isn't as good as the Watch ESPN app, but I'm glad that the finally got the thing out there. Don't let perfection be the enemy of good - let's just hope they continue to bring improvements.

Still re-watching the OSU-Florida game on BTN2go... They even cut away to Dook on the fucking replay.

I initially was going to post this in the Facebook thread, but since this deals only with the iPhone Facebook app, I'll post it here:

What the fuck happened to the "Lists" option? Up until 4-5 days ago there was a Lists section under the menu on the left hand side, and under that my one custom list was there (the list is still available and intact under normal PC Facebook). Now, not only is the list not there but the actual "Lists" section is not there. I looked under the app's Settings section to see if somehow I disabled Lists but there was nothing about Lists under Settings. I had my app set up to display unpates only from those in the list and not from the general Newsfeed. Anyone else have this problem?

Those two and Pulse cover everything I need for news.

Just want to give another recommendation for Pulse. I absolutely love it. My daily reading includes a number of blogs that don't have iPhone apps, and this wonderful little app essentially creates one for them and aggregates all of my daily reading in one place.

Have you tried Reeder? I read all my blogs via that.
