I remember him being butt hurt, acting like a girl slamming the ball to the turf after Bobby Carpenter planted him in the ground for the 5th sack in the Shoe in '05.

Things never change.

I was in the stands that day and I still don't know how he wasn't flagged for it. The ref threw a flag, but it was inexplicably picked up. Whatever--the final score that day was something like 33-6, I think.

I think they were going to call an "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty, but changed it to delay of game.

I cannot remember if they assessed a 5-yard penalty or just gave Iowa a warning.

EDIT - I think this was the possession. Changing it from a 15-yarder to a 5-yarder left them in field goal range.
1st-10, IOWA30 6:20 D. Tate passed to E. Hinkel to the right for 14 yard gain

I always thought he was a douche. Bigger question, though--is the CFL really that terrible that this chump can be a starting QB?

Considering some of the guys starting in the NFL, much less the CFL, I'd say there aren't a lot of professional grade QBs out there.

I was there, too. I kept saying "Drew Tate, everybody. Big Ten Preseason Offensive Player of the Year". I hated that little shit .

Thanks for posting--that is definitely the drive I was talking about. Still not sure how spiking the ball on the field right after getting sacked is not unsportsmanlike conduct...
