Iowa 24, Georgia Tech 14 (final) Orange Bowl

While I want the Big Ten teams to win their bowl games, this is almost like playing against Navy and I think we all know how difficult that is when you have not seen it all season. My money is on the Yellow Jackets.

This game will determine whether or not the Big Ten ends up with a winning bowl record overall.
This game will also determine whether or not the ACC ends up with a winning bowl record overall. The ACC and Big Ten are both 3-3.

Just saw it is 19 degrees in Columbus. I am glad I am in beautiful Miami for this one!

Word amongst Tech is new unis and focused practice. Hopefully it's a better game than most here think!

You are in for a shock tonight, then. Might be the coldest night on record for down here. Better wear your parka.

Co-worker of mine is a GT Alum, and has a bunch of his buddies in town for the game. They all went to Wal-Mart this morning to get sock hats, winter jackets (they actually do sell those down here!!) and gloves. They didn't think to pack winter clothes since it was in Ft Lauderdale (yes, Land Shark Stadium, thank God tonight is the last night we call it that, is not in Miami, but the south side of Ft Lauderdale.)

Have fun freezing your ass off!!

20 mil says Iowa's defense plays GT as tough as they played us, and that should be enough for them to win.

What part of how Iowa defended the run against Ohio State is going to help them beat a team like Georgia Tech? Iowa gave up 229 rushing yards against Ohio State (4.5 ypc) and three rushing TDs (all over 10 yds.).

I have a hard time seeing this happen for Iowa, but the weather and +4.5 points might get me to bet on them.

Weather, not so much. It gets damn cold in the ATL. Went to the Miami/GT game last year in ATL, and it was really cold (30s/40s) that weekend.

Talked to my Mom who lives in Ocala (a little over an hour north of Orlando) Sunday evening...she said it was supposed to get down into the teens there during the night, and its forecasted to be in 23-34 degrees tonight and tomorrow night (got down to 27 last night). Then again, its supposed to only get down into the low 50s in Miami Thursday evening, so temperature probably won't be a factor

The part that they won't be playing in front of 105,000 hostile fans and the part they won't have to game plan against a Terrelle Pryor. Oh yeah, don't forget the part they won't be playing against the #5 defense in the country but rather the #52 defense in the country. They hold GT to under 230 yards rushing, which is about 80 yard less than their #2-in-the-country 307 ypg average, and I think their chances are pretty damn good. Good enough?

Uh, the Iowa/GT game is tonight and the low down here is predicted in the mid 30s. Just sayin', cause I live here and all. :wink2:

The crowd? Good point.

Not having to face Pryor? Nesbitt averages more rushing yards per game and has a higher pass efficiency rating (counting Rose Bowl stats, Pryor only has 14 more attempts on the season). Iowa had better plan for Nesbitt.

Lower ranked opposing defense? Sure, that helps, but I don't know what that has to do with Iowa's defense. It's good news for Iowa's offense though

You're right - if Iowa holds Georgia Tech to 230 yards they have a pretty good chance to win. What are their chances like if they allow Georgia Tech to rush for 35 yards more than their season average, like Ohio State was able to?
