I may get banned for this post, but why do most posters hang on to what NB says? I asked this before and the answers weren't too specific. Has NB nailed any predictions before? I am just curious. Posters should know that if they are going to make statements like "he will be a buckeye" people will check them on their credibility. This post isn't meant as a flame. It is an attempt to understand how NB became noted as a reliable "inside" source.

Let it go.

Kids have a change of heart. New schools get involved. Coaches spend more time with a recruit or the kid gets a deeper look at some of the items high on their priority list...be that playing time, academics, following in their father's footsteps, whatever. I don't doubt for a moment that a few weeks ago Boren was OSU bound. Things change. Nevada kept you informed as best he could and you should consider it a privelidge to be privy to such info, even when if it played out differently.

I don't think Nevada cares if you consider him an insider or not...this isn't about labels. If you want to mark him off your list of trusted sources...by all means do so. I, however, will continue to read his posts with great interest and appreciation for making the effort to share what he knows.

Best of luck to Justin wherever he chooses to go. In addition, this pretty much ends any faith I have in the so called "insiders" on these boards. The bottomline is that these kids change their minds so often, that it would probably be better if u so-called "in the know" people not be so confident in your information.

You know u can share the info u have, but to basically give the idea that Boren was essentially a Buckeye lock just holding off with his announcement got a lot of fans very excited. Now it looks like your wrong and many fans are gonna be bummed.

So I know the mods on this board dont wanna see guys like NB and HH get hammered, but cmon, if your gonna go around assuring that players are going to pick OSU due to your "info", then u should at least b held accountable when your dead wrong.

Hmm, so you've read the updates right? Did you miss the fact taht Boren and everyone else said OSU was clearly his leader forever and then UM caught up quickly just recently? How does that disagree with what Nevada said?

If you don't want inside info that is merely insight into what was going on, then don't read his posts. Nobody knew better than Nevada and others tied to teh program, and Justin would have given you that same answer had he been willing to tell his intentions.

Were you one of the ones ticked at HH when Hodge shocked the world and committed to Wisconsin? These are kids whcih are incredibly volatile emotionally, and recruiting was never intended to be a science. Its the obsessed ones like us that are teh problem here that long for insight long before anything should be given out.

el asssniff, if you aren't familiar with how much excellent info NB has previously provded, then don't slam him. When he said he was sure Boren would be a Buckeye, he obviously had reason to believe so. Members like him make this site great.

We're talking about a 17-year-old kid, born and raised in a hard-core Michigan household, who was seriously considering their arch-rival. It's hardly shocking to see him leaning towards Michigan despite previously favoring Ohio State.

As stated before ad nauseum, we're talking about kids. 17 year old kids dealing with the meat market of recruiting. At 17, my own mother didn't know what I had instore for my future. Recruiting guys like NevadaBuck, Alan, HH, HighStreet and the like are the ones who deal directly with these kids and the coaches at both levels. So to insinuate that their info needs to be utterly flawless is absurd. The do the best they can with as much objectivity and honesty that they can.

I was told by a coach that one kid last year was set to commit to Ole Miss. He committed to UF. His own coach had him pegged wrong. It happens.

Like Alan said, NevadaBuck knows what the coaching staff does. If the staff feels REALLY confident about a player, Nevada's comments will reflect that. HH can give insight into the minds of the kids, parents and H.S. coaches. If a recruit is leaning towards tOSU, his comments will reflect that.

I'm not really offering anything new to the discussion, but the entire process of recruiting is speculation until the player's "Herbie Hancock" is on paper. If Rivals and Scout.com announce Chris Wells is going to be a Buckeye, and later he backs out of his verbal, does that make them any more inaccurate?

...Keep it in perspective. This wouldn't be as fun if we all knew what was going to happen with EVERY recruit. Sometimes uncertainty and patience makes victory that much more sweet.

Besides, who really freeken cares if they are right most of the time. It isn't like we are diagnosing Ebola or putting money in the stock market based on what HH or NB say.

This is all fun and based 100% on conjecture. If they were always right recruiting would be an absolute snoozefest.

I say that NB and HH should be wrong as often as possible. That way when they are right, it will be really special.

And I know Alan personally and when he says statements like this I tend to believe him.

Why was this thread even started. I don't see Michigan verbal after Justin's name on the recruiting board. Now I really hope he chooses tOSU so Nevada , Alan, and HH can rub your face in it. (Not that they would.) BUT I WILL!!! If he chooses Michigan, life goes on. If you don't like what is posted here go over to BN and stay there. I consider myself lucky to have access to the information these guys post. Which, by the way, THEY DON'T HAVE TO!!!

To the guys I mentioned above... Please don't take the opinions of the very few to heart. The rest of us truly appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to give us the info we crave. Keep up the great work!
