UPDATED: 6:35 p.m.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Manager Manny Acta's coaching staff is almost complete. All he needs are hitting and first base coaches.
The Indians on Monday announced the hiring of bench coach Tim Tolman, bullpen coach Scott Radinsky and third base/infield coach Steve Smith. Pitching coach Tim Belcher was hired Nov. 6.
Among the candidates for the last two jobs are Jon Nunnally, Dave Hudgens and Joel Skinner. Acta, in Cleveland for the week, will soon be headed to Venezuela to interview Nunnally and Hudgens for the hitting coach's job. Hudgens is managing Caracas and Nunnally is his hitting coach.
Nunnally has received good reviews during his three years in the Indians' minor-league system. Hudgens was Oakland's hitting coach in 1999 and again from 2003-05. He's currently the Indians' minor-league field coordinator.
Skinner, a former catcher, was fired Sept. 30 with manager Eric Wedge and the rest of the coaching staff. He's played, managed or coached for the franchise since 1989. Acta needs a catching instructor, but said it was still unclear if the first-base coach would also instruct catchers.
Acta added that he needs to hire a couple of bullpen catchers. Danny Williams and Dave Wallace filled those jobs last season.

Good ridance. Would have been nice to have gotten more last year, but I can see why a deal wasn't made at the time as there weren't any real alternatives to Captain K.LitlBuck;1609679; said:

He's breaking down physically, his production is dropping off consistently the past four years, is still undisciplined at the plate and way too expensive. He'd make sense on the 90's Tribe teams, not a rebuilding one like this one. He's Pronk minus the occasional walks.BuckeyeMac;1610805; said:he's not happy about it either...
Oh and Vlad Guerrero is available Free Agent...I'd love him here in Cleveland, but I know it won't happen :(

10:59am: The Indians signed reliever Jason Grilli to a minor league deal, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post. Grilli will make $800K in the Majors.
The 33-year-old righty posted a 5.32 ERA in 45.6 innings for the Rangers and Rockies this year, whiffing over a batter per inning but battling control and elbow problems. If the Indians are happy with Grilli, they can retain him for 2010 and 2011 as an arbitration-eligible player.

Buscher, 29 in April, has a career line of .266/.343/.356 with the Twins, mainly at third base. Gosling, 29, tossed 25 innings for the Indians last year with a 5.04 ERA. He posted a 4.81 ERA in an additional 67.3 Triple A innings. Rodriguez, 29, had a career-high 251 plate appearances with the Padres this year but hit just .202/.319/.260. He's capable of playing all around the infield.

crappy infielders...check
now all we need is the injury risk starter and the aged average outfielder
LitlBuck;1611516; said:I guess I don't understand why they just don't re-sign Jamey Carroll for their utility infielder. It's probably just as good as any other utility infielder out there plus he can bunt:)
Supposedly there's supposed to get some utility infielder from Tampa for Shoppach .
Santana called back from Winter Ball because he wasn't feeling well.
