Indians Tidbits (2009 season)

they did score 2 runs but that disappears quickly with Pavano pitching

Peralta sucks. He's not even a plus offensive player at that position anymore which makes him a black hole. I'm sure Chicago's starter and his 6.62 ERA will shut them out the rest of the way.

Eh, aside from the disaster in his first start, Pavano has been the second best pitcher on this team so far.

WTF is going on here? How bad are the ChiSox to be letting the tribe do this?

Serious question though, did they just call up LaPorta to fetch Wedge's sunflower seeds? Why the fuck do you call up your top prospect and never play him. I've never accused this organization of being particularly smart, but this is obscenely stupid.

Peralta heating up, Pavano wins his 3rd straight. Bullpen allows 2 in 3 innings. Have the Indians turned the corner?

I don't get this either. If you're going to stick with Francisco/Delucci then send LaPorta back to Columbus where he can play every day. If an extra outfielder is needed then bring Crowe back up. Not a big fan of Crowe but he can pinch run and is a solid defender, I'd rather have him sitting on the bench than having LaPorta's development stunted. The sad thing is Crowe was getting more time when he was up than LaPorta is getting.

They're doing pretty much the same thing with Valbuena. I wonder if he will get sent back to Columbus when Carroll is ready. I think this guy is the 2B of the future and want him developing instead of riding pine.

 can we please get rid of this guy

MLB Notebook: Wedge concerned, but has no excuses

Rather than spend time worrying about his job status, Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge is thinking about tinkering with the lineup.

The Indians went into last night's game against Chicago at 11-21, the worst record in the majors. "It is my fault," Wedge said. "I'm not playing, but I take full responsibility when things are not going well. And we are a better team than we have shown."

Wedge said he won't hide behind injuries, or point fingers at particular areas of the team. He did say that he has told players they have no excuses, either.

"I believe in these guys, but we have to do better," Wedge said. "And it has to start now. Not the next game, not the next inning."

Wedge met with general manager Mark Shapiro and the coaching staff to discuss all aspects of the club. "These guys figure it out, have a good week, and we're back in it [the AL Central race]. But it has to start now. And if that is pressure, well guess what? This is the big leagues."

2 home runs allowed by Sowers in the first 3 innings, how the hell was this guy a top 10 draft pick?

The MLB draft is for the most part a crap-shoot. Here's a fairly depressing read...

Cleveland Indians 1st Round Draft History - ProSportsDaily Forums

Sowers is who he is...a soft tossing junkballer who's gonna bounce between the majors and AAA his whole career and carry and ERA between 5.00-6.00.

Grady continues to play like a chump...an early candidate for most overrated player in baseball. He may turn it around, but right now he's playing fucking awful baseball.

true about it being a crap shoot

but I just dont see what scouts ever saw in him, hes a soft thrower with no really effective breaking or off speed stuff

and now there is 2 on and no outs, this usually turns into zero runs with this team

Yeah, but this organization also drafted hard throwing Paul Shuey #2 overall and we all know how that turned out...
