Indians Tidbits (2007 Season)

It's amazing how this team has come around and has fought through that dreadful attempt of hitting in that 1.5/2 month span. I love it, it's good to see that this team is going to be playing in October again, and hopefully can get a title!

GO TRIBE!!

CLEVELAND -- Twice in three days, Indians reliever Rafael Betancourt stared down Magglio Ordonez of the Detroit Tigers, arguably the best player in baseball not named Alex Rodriguez, with the game on the line. The first time, he had the option of passing and facing a hitter less dangerous.
Twice in three days, Betancourt struck out Ordonez. He accepted the challenge and won.
"I don't care who's hitting," he said. "I just do my job."

Indians left-hander C.C. Sabathia boosted his record to 3-0 in September and 18-7 for the season during a winning effort yesterday over the Detroit Tigers.

CLEVELAND -- The cap is crooked as ever, but the head that fills it finally has straightened itself out.
C.C. Sabathia has become The Man for the Cleveland Indians in large part because he has become a man. The talk no longer is about how the hefty lefty keeps growing out, but how much he is growing up.
No more sulking when things don't go his way. No more tossing his glove in the dugout because of a lack of run production. And, mechanically, fewer times trying to fire the ball through the catcher's mitt. On the mound and in his mind, Sabathia is a different pitcher and person from the one who joined the Indians in 2001 as a 20-year-old rookie.

Cleveland Indians sweep Detroit Tigers to open 7?-game lead

Three straight wins over Detroit has Tribe thinking when, not if
Thursday, September 20, 2007 Paul Hoynes
Plain Dealer Reporter
They are so close that even manager Eric Wedge has been tempted to peek around the corner toward the final home weekend of the regular season.
Wedge has worn his blinders and bowed his neck since the opening of spring training in February. He convinced the Indians to do the same, but after coming from behind for the third straight game Wednesday to beat Detroit, 4-2, and complete a three-game sweep, the temptation is strong to peel away the wrapping paper and look inside the box that holds the invitations to October and the postseason.
"You'd like to think about doing it at home," said Wedge.

C.C. valuable on the mound and off

Thursday, September 20, 2007 Bud Shaw
Plain Dealer Columnist
C.C. Sabathia likens the atmosphere in the club house to "legion ball," a summer of fun which offers the close fraternity of college life without those bothersome classes and nagging exams.
"Everybody's cool," he said Wednesday as the stadium cleanup crew swept the remains of the Detroit Tigers from Jacobs Field.
The mirrors on the wall tell who's the coolest of them all, mostly because none are broken in two.

Fans finally starting to believe in Indians

This is our year!' heard outside park
Thursday, September 20, 2007 Grant Segall
Plain Dealer Reporter
It has taken wary fans months to trust the Tribe.
"This is heartbreak city," Mike Alfonso of Solon said at Wednesday's game, where the Indians finished their sweep of the runner-up Tigers to nearly clinch a Central Division crown. "Everyone waits for the other shoe to drop."
But the hot team is finally melting hearts.

Tribe's revival tied to Cabrera's arrival

Friday, September 21, 2007 3:24 AM
By Scott Priestle

The Columbus Dispatch

CLEVELAND -- Asdrubal Cabrera was not a second baseman from birth. It only looks that way. In fact, his father was a professional basketball player in Venezuela, and Asdrubal played the game briefly as a child before deciding his future was on the diamond, not the hardwood.
"Two years," he said. "That's it."
It has not been long since he put childhood and basketball behind him, but already it is abundantly clear he chose the right path. At 21 years old, he is a starter in the major leagues and a major reason the Indians are likely headed to the postseason for the first time in six years.

Has anyone ever gotten playoff tickets off a site like StubHub? I've had good luck with StubHub, but I was surprised they're already available on there.

Just wanted to make sure I'm not getting ripped off if I decide to buy a couple seats.

ticketliquidator.com is a little cheaper than stubhub at the moment.
