Tribe hopes to secure comfortable Westbrook

Jake Westbrook, well-shaken in the early part of his career, knows what he has in Cleveland. It's called home.
Westbrook said that will play a part in his negotiations with the Indians during spring training on a possible contract extension. Westbrook, with 14 or more victories and at least 200 innings pitched in each of the past three seasons, can be a free agent after the 2007 season.

CLEVELAND - Not surprisingly, manager Eric Wedge has a plan for the Indians.
You probably knew that already.
Part of Wedge's (and General Manager Mark Shapiro's) grand design involves using five outfielders to fill three positions, which brings up this question: Will there be a roster spot for last year's prized rookie, Ryan Garko, who batted .292 with seven home runs and 45 RBI in 50 games?

Payday coming for Westbrook

Tribe pitcher could become free agent in October

If he dared to consider it, Jake Westbrook might be overwhelmed by the thought that he has a chance to make more money in 2008 than he will have earned from 2005 through 2007 combined.
But Westbrook is determined not to think about the amount of cash that might be thrown his way, if he chooses to become a free agent in October.
