Indiana Hoosiers Basketball (Dead Program)

Associate AD? What do you even do in that role?

Happy for Thad, regardless.

Maybe you set up a program's infrastructure a la the machines we've seen built in CFB? Differentiate between the on field manager and GM.

No inside knowledge but that's how I read it. If that's correct it's pretty damn smart imo.

I think Thad could excel in a role like that and keep you out of violations hell.

Hell, Ohio State has more Associate ADs than you can shake a stick at:

Dan Cloran, Executive Assoc. Ath. Dir., Development: 292-7744
Joe Odoguardi, Executive Associate AD & CFO: 292-5263
Mike Penner, Executive Associate AD, Internal Operations: 292-1848
Julie Vannatta, Senior Associate AD Legal Services: 292-0611
Shaun Richard, Senior Associate AD, Sport Administration: 292-0012
TJ Shelton, Senior Associate AD, Sport Administration: 247-4531
Carey Hoyt, Associate AD, Sport Administration and Student-Athlete Development: 247-8058

Who knows what they all do? Somebody could call them tomorrow and ask them.......

Here are five takeaways from Monday’s introductory press conference:

• The Indiana coaching job has been a goal for Woodson: Woodson has spent the duration of his lengthy coaching career in the NBA, but says he never lost his passion for the IU basketball program.

• Woodson already has a staff in mind: One of the biggest and most important tasks at hand for Woodson, as he begins his tenure in Bloomington, will be assembling a coaching staff.

• Woodson has already started the process of re-recruiting Indiana’s players in the transfer portal: Indiana currently has six players in the NCAA transfer portal – Khristian Lander, Armaan Franklin, Jordan Geromino, Race Thompson, Al Durham Jr. and Parker Stewart.

• Woodson provides clues on Indiana’s style of play: Many of the concepts being run in college basketball today have roots in the NBA.

• Woodson excited about the opportunity to work with Matta: Thad Matta’s hiring as Indiana’s associate athletic director of basketball administration came as a surprise, but it also showed Woodson’s willingness to surround himself with someone who has been successful as a head coach in the Big Ten.
