1. You lose a chance to get valuable playing time for the 2's and 3's. Kids who might never get a chance to play, get that chance. Playing in front of the stadium not only helps them develop, it motivates their play in practice.
2. You give the opponent a reason to really focus next time you play. Payback will be delivered when it can be and, as a coach, it will probably come when your job is on the line.
3. Your team begins to feel that it is better than it is. Scores get run up like this because the other team has a major problem, perhaps an injury or they give up. Chappell was injured yesterday or this game could have been very close.
Wisconsin better watch out next week.

If you watched it, you'd see that Wisconsin really didn't appear to be score-running. The only questionable play in the second half was the long bomb to Abbrederis, but it came from the 3rd string QB and it was clear that wasn't the play call. Wisconsin had 21 pass attempts in the entire game. It just seems ridiculous to think it was a blatant attempt at disrespecting Indiana.
Bucky has a shot to lose next week at Michigan, but I just don't see it.
