Indiana +21.5 at Wisconsin (ov/un 57.5) ESPN2

There are three things wrong about running a score up on a team like this:

1. You lose a chance to get valuable playing time for the 2's and 3's. Kids who might never get a chance to play, get that chance. Playing in front of the stadium not only helps them develop, it motivates their play in practice.

2. You give the opponent a reason to really focus next time you play. Payback will be delivered when it can be and, as a coach, it will probably come when your job is on the line.

3. Your team begins to feel that it is better than it is. Scores get run up like this because the other team has a major problem, perhaps an injury or they give up. Chappell was injured yesterday or this game could have been very close.

Wisconsin better watch out next week.

I watched the game; Wisconsin had their starters out early. Indiana's defense couldn't stop Bucky's 2nd and 3rd AND 4th string quarterbacks. If you watched it, you'd see that Wisconsin really didn't appear to be score-running. The only questionable play in the second half was the long bomb to Abbrederis, but it came from the 3rd string QB and it was clear that wasn't the play call. Wisconsin had 21 pass attempts in the entire game. It just seems ridiculous to think it was a blatant attempt at disrespecting Indiana.

Bucky has a shot to lose next week at Michigan, but I just don't see it.

Running bootlegs in the red zone, up 76-20 with a minute left in the game?:( Wiscy is a running team, and if Wiscy was down most of the game, they still only would have had 25 pass attempts. Honestly, I saw one of the most blatant examples of running up the score this side of the old Osborn Nebraska teams.

If it was the 3rd and 4th stringers then I'm fine with it.

A team shouldn't have to play its scrubs and run FB dives for a half. The other team should be able to defend themselves or get 83 points hung on them.

Besides that, I will never forget darkest Day I or II. Fuck IU.

Wisconsin threw 3 passes all 4th quarter and all by their backup QB. Their last TD drive was all runs, by either their 2nd string back, 3rd string back, or the run by their 3rd string QB. It's not their fault Indiana couldn't stop them. They didn't have any starters in during the 4th quarter.

On the flip side, when we played Eastern Michigan, our big point scoring game of the year, our first four plays of the 4th quarter were a QB run and 3 passes. Then after that drive we passed it 4 more times, one being negated by a PI call, and also had our 3rd string QB run one in for a TD.

I think it's stupid to put your 2nd and 3rd string players in the game and then not call any plays for them. They need/want the experience, some of them may never get any playing time, and others need the game experience. There is nothing wrong with what Tressel has done in the past, nor what Bielema did. The blame should lie on Indiana. A Big Ten team should NEVER allow 80 points to be hung on them!

Agree. The bottom of the depth chart still should get the basic playbook. They earn that right with daily practice effort.

My bigger concern was the effort of the Indiana defense on the highlights. I swear I saw numerous slow jogs and even a few walks. They quit more than Wisky ran it up...

I don't know what I'm going to do if the Big Ten pollsters give the COY to a p.o.s. like Bielema.

I think it's still pretty safe to say that Dantonio will get that all things considering

Is my memory failing or did Indiana almost beat Iowa last weekend?

Being inconsistent is a sign of not being a very good team.

Did I really bet the under on this?

Don't feel bad, I did too...of course IU lost just 18-13 to Iowa last week and Wisconsin was without their best offensive player, so I don't feel awful not seeing the giraffe neck dildo entering the IU posterior as it did.
