Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

Hey, please clear away the fog for me. I know that there have been numerous asst coaches hired to backstop LJsr. Eventually he'll hang 'em up, and the thought was there would be an individual trained to succeed him. And those numerous asst coaches have all left to take other jobs. OK, does tOSU have someone in place? Or is it going to be find the best guy out there when he finally rides into the sunset? I've lost track.

I’m not sure the guys under LJS are considered successors. Joe Kim by all accounts seems to be a very respected consultant and teacher of technique but from a recruitment and unit performance standpoint I have no idea.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help, in short it doesn’t seem like it but he has teachers under him for sure.

Seem to recollect the fol-de-ra about hiring a guy, mainly to succeed LJsr, but after a couple of years (and LJ still going strong), he took the DL job at Texas (or somesuch). Don't get me wrong, LJ is the 'man', and still appears he's an attractive coach to all/most of the DL guys out there. Good for us. However, all good things must end, and am certain the up and comers will look at his legacy, and ask 'do I really want to follow that?' Guess Buckeye Nation will just have to wait and see, and hopefully enjoy having LJsr on the sideline for many years to come. Heck, if you enjoy what you're doing, and have your health, why not continue?

They found someone to follow Hartline (we’ll see) they’ll find an attractive candidate when Larry calls it a game. Day has established a pretty solid assistant track record — with the only blatant blunders being Coombs and to an extent Yurcich.

I guess it’s a “cross that bridge when we get there” at this point.
