Illinois Fighting Illini (you'll see)

Thanks.

And a question for you outsiders from a depressed Illini:

HOW IN THE NAME OF MELVIN FELLOWS CAN MY ILLINI GO FROM A TOP-20 OFFENSE TO A BOTTOM-20 OFFENSE WHEN 9 OF 11 STARTERS RETURNED, INCLUDING EVERY SINGLE SKILL PLAYER??

I can't figure it out. And I've spent maybe 3 hours per day this week thinking about it.
Well....

How do you feel about your team's execution?

Zook, Ron.

Juice has regressed every year he's been there. He does know that bounce passes aren't legal in football, right?

Juice has had four phases so far:

Freshman season: Lost beyond belief.
Missouri game through Ball State game in 2007: Solid spread option run decisions, but still only 100 passing yards per game.
Minnesota game in 2007 (game before we beat tOSU) through Indiana game in 2008: "Will this guy make a run at the Heisman?" phase. Top-5 in the country in total offense over that span, passing for 290 and running for 90 per game. Go watch some highlights of our game at Michigan last year where he set the Big House record for total offense. He was lights out.
Wisconsin game in 2008 (3 picks lost the game) through today: Blech. As bad as freshman season, maybe worse.

I'm in favor of it.

So now you're quoting a former USC coach just to rub in our only loss this year. :tongue2:

OR, I'm also glad you're sticking around. The BP posters had varying opinions on the topic, it's discussed in Coleman's thread starting at post 470 (pages 32-38 if you have 15/page).

But I'm only suggesting that you read it to survey the differerences of opinion for reference. And to illustrate that differences of opinion were expressed there, it was only your language regarding Tressel that caused the warning. But you've already posted your thoughts here, so there's no need to add them to that thread.

What in the world just happened here? Perhaps everyone has forgotten how this works...

- Opposing fan flames on our board
- Shetuck posts pictures of said poster in an embarrassing light
- More pictures are found and posted
- We argue over whether or not there could possibly be legal ramifications
- Thread merges with other flame threads
- Three months later, new poster flames the board, we point to this one and say 'See what happens moron'

All this civility is gooey and awkward

Are you saying OrangeRoughy should sleep with the fishes?

He was good in that game, no doubt. But he was not the only Illinois player to light up UM's defense in that game. Nor was Illinois the only offense to light up UM's defense last year (Beanie Wells ran for 137 yards in only 15 carries, and Boom Herron ran for 80 yards in only 8 carries).

Locksley departure?

As its been forever in Illinois the football season is over already. The local paper had an Illinois basketball article today. Football is a diversion for most of my Illini alum friends out here until basketball starts. My friends have traveled to Vegas and NYC for the basketball team but had little interest in going to the Rose Bowl

Maybe. But they didn't change the plays, terminology, or formations. Mike Schultz (TCU) came in having run basically the same offense and adapted to the Locksley terminology.

Point being, I don't think any of the bad routes, skipped passes, and dropped balls can be put on the OC. It's like the players got worse. Overnight.

Or - and this is the part that scares me the most - they don't care. And that's on the Zooker. Has to be.

I, however, am that one other guy. The one who takes vacation days to Camp Rantoul to see firsthand the battle for backup Sam linebacker.

For the 41st time - you guys have no idea how good you have it.
