Illinois Fighting Illini (you'll see)

Apparently the Illini got both Buckner and Hill this weekend. they are going to be two of the top 10 players in the state.

Sounds like a clear case of shoring up both lines.

Wonder when rivals will update the commit boards, or are these going to be more in the way of "silent verbals"?

Still waiting on this because we have conflicting reports. a newspaper article said they committed to us, but his coach says it's not true from what i hear. noone seems to know for sure, but we seem to in good shape for them. we will know more later today i guess.

It's now official on Rivals. they are Illini commits

That's pretty sweet, IMO. As much as I love OSU dominating teh Big 10, it hasn't helped come Bowl Season. A stronger Big 10 is a very good thing. Much better than losing these quality players to Notre Dame or an outside conference.

theres some smoke off of the FSU sites that Jamie Harper, rated #1 fullback by scout, is a silent to Illinois. Haven't really seen much of him, but he apparently had a great showing at the Under-Armour All-American game. He is from Trinity Christian in Florida.

The Zooker may have zooked another stud from outside Illinois.

If Zooker can show that he can coach the talent coming to Champaign, the Illini will be a tough out year in and year out. Hopefully he can keep the Illini solidly in the #2-4 spot in the B10 and can give the Bucks a good warmup game so the Bucks can hone themselves up for the BCS NC game (no more honing like in 2007 though please Ron and zebras )

It's especially nice to get some of the talent from SEC territory. It would be annoying if most of Zook's recruits were from Ohio, Pennsylvania, etc where we recruit a lot. Luckily a lot of the talent coming into the B10 is from areas who wouldn't normally be coming here.

Illinois getting good recruits is great news for us and the B10, as long as he isn't stealing them from us :)

Harper is a great runningback, not a fullback, I don't know why they have him there. I was at the UA AA game and yes, he is VERY good. The best was his flip that seemed like nothing to him after he scored his touchdown. I for one hope he does go up to Illinois. Wee need some stronger opponents in the Big Ten to test us throughout the year. It looks as if the Illini and the Buckeyes are going to be tops next year.... with or w/o Harper in Champaign.
