I'm thinking that after the Purdue scare, the defense has gotten their shot more-or-less together (see the PSU game). As for the offense, I don;t think they'll run into the same problems they did against Purdue. After holding Western Michigan to seven points in their opener, Illinois has given up have given up the following totals to FBS teams (leaving out FCS Charleston Southern): 45, 52, 35, 31, 45, 31 (~40 ppg). The second 45-point game was against none other than the Detard Robinson-led Michigan offense. Detard had 128 yards on 11 carries against Illinois...I'd like to think that Braxton can match that.

What is most concerning to me is that Illinois has spent eight weeks preparing for this game, since they obviously didn't spend any of that time preparing for those other teams they played.

-Illinois will become a national power in the next 5-10 years.

I have a tendency to agree here with Dryden. Beckman and Illinois are going to play thier best because this is "OHIO STATE" in the Shoe - just like the fiasco we ran into on 2007, with Mendenhall and Zook raining down on what could have been an undefeated season. The game at Ped State showed us
the real Buckeyes that we all knew would come to play for. I just hope that
we can carry that same focus and attitude for the next 3 remaining games

I dont see urban letting the team take Illionis lightly. I think Luke has the defense humming and I see a blow out and hopefully the righthander out of the bullpen gets some quality time.

I will be trying to find a good place to watch the game down in the hocking hills around Logan. Any sugesstions?:oh:

OSU was going to blowout UAB, Indiana, and Purdue also... This team has shown a tendency to play down to its competition and I don't see that changing this season. No chance this inexperienced bunch isn't looking ahead to Wiscy and tsun, and this is Illinois biggest game for the rest of the season (they finish with Minny, Purdue, and NW). They're going to be playing harder than OSU in the early stages... With that said, OSU weathers it and wins it by a couple TDs in another lackluster performance against a bad football team.

Then they'll look 10x better the next 2 weeks.

Ohio State played PSU this weekend? :biggrin:

Wasn't the same thing said after the Indiana game as well? That and the PSU offense was a tailor made offense for tOSU defense to shut down as compared to the offenses Indiana and Purdue ran.

I would like to see them put together a full 60 minute game together regardless of the competition. I would love to see it this weekend, but you just never know with 18-22 year olds.

Mostly agree with this, except that I think as the team gets healthier I think they will start to not play down to its competition, as along as they continue to get healthier.

Defense has played MUCH better the last two weeks, which I find very encouraging. Purdue did nothing but a long wheel route, a kick return, and a drive of nothing but bubble screens. PSU had a blocked punt TD, and then garbage TD's. They've been a bit on the bend-but-not-break side, but still far more tough than the defense that gave up 49 to Indiana.

I'd like to see Urban and Braxton open up the passing game a bit more. This should be a game to test some things out on a far inferior opponent. Not sure if the weather will permit it though. Seems like the Illinois game is always shitty weather.
