Trust me - since Gatorubet started posting, the hate for the University of Florida has been replaced with love and fond feelings here at BP, only to be matched by that of the players themselves!

Nothing abbreviated about Illinois linebacker?s abilities

[FONT=Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif]COLUMBUS ? If any other player had put together a career like Illinois linebacker J Leman, you might say they had made a name for themselves.
But what do you say about Leman? That he has made a real letter for himself?
Leman, who will lead Illinois? defense against Ohio State on Saturday, was a first-team All-Big Ten selection last season and is headed for a repeat appearance on the all-conference team.
His ability is unquestioned.
The big question, though, is what?s the deal with that first name?
Leman?s given name is Jeremy Jacob Leman. He was called J.J. until around age five, then one J and two periods were dropped and his family began calling him just J, without any punctuation marks.
Leman was in on 152 tackles last season and has 102 this year. One of his best games in 2006 came when he had 19 tackles, 3.5 for losses, a quarterback sack and a forced fumble in a 17-10 loss to Ohio State last season. He has had 10 or more tackles in seven games this season with a high of 20 against Missouri.
?It seems like No. 47 (Leman) makes every tackle,? Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said. ?He?s sideline to sideline.?

Illini hope passing game works in Ohio

Buckeyes are No. 1 against run and pass

Associated Press

CHAMPAIGN --

Juice Williams surprised himself last Saturday when he threw a career-high two touchdown passes and ran for another against Minnesota. In Illinois' 44-17 win over the Gophers, the sophomore quarterback completed a season-best 14-of-21 passes for 207 yards, and had probably the best day of his college career.
"I always try to set the bar high enough to a level where just in case I fall short, I will still be satisfied," Williams said. "But I was finally able to see the field, see coverages."
That was a big change for a quarterback whose passing numbers pale in comparison to every other Big Ten quarterback. Williams has completed 105 of 187 passes -- 56.1 percent. That's a big improvement over his 39.5 percent completion rate last year, but he's thrown nine interceptions and just eight touchdowns. His 1,138 yards is 10th among Big Ten quarterbacks.
And Williams' success against Minnesota comes with a disclaimer. The Gophers are last in the conference in pass defense, giving up 319.7 yards a game.
Williams won't find anything so generous Saturday when Illinois (7-3, 4-2) faces No. 1 Ohio State (10-0, 6-0) on the road.

Ron Zook has turned the Illini into a confident bunch, believing they can win the big games.

John Cooper remembers being in a car with Ron Zook and feeling simultaneously impressed with his assistant coach and scared to death.
"I was always a nervous wreck riding with him," said Cooper, who had Zook on his football staff at Ohio State from 1988 to 1990. "He was on his cell phone, we're driving across a bridge in Sarasota (Fla.), he's talking to some recruit, driving and not knowing where we're going."
Cooper chuckles at the memory of the dynamo that was, and is, Ron Zook.

OSU should have no problem winning this one. Beanie should have a big day. My only concern would be to keep everyone healthy for THE GAME. Cause Michigan really wants to win the next one bad.

Keep in Mind, Michigan is more worried about Wisconsin. Do they play Henne and Hart or keep them out? Neither are 100% but they want to win the game too.

Zook recruited a vast majority of Florida's N/C team and handed it over to Urban's staff. Last years game caught Ohio State looking just a bit past Illinois and thinking about Michigan and they were almost caught with thier pants down.

I don't agree with the "caught with our pants down" statement from last years game. People tend to look at the score and don't realize how that game played out. We were up 17-0 at the half. Then the wind started swirling, snow fluries started, and the temperature started dropping. Everyone in that stadium knew that we were going to take the air out of the ball and try to shorten the game and get out of there with a 20-7 or 20-10 game. A couple bad turnovers made the game closer than it realy was. Keep in mind we won 17-10 and Illinois had the ball on their own 1 yard line with less than a minute to go.

Would you say that we were caught with our pants down against MSU this year? bonehead mistakes that let them get back in it...similiar to the Illinois game last year, except last year we were on the road in piss poor weather conditions. (I know because i was there and it was cold)
