Game Thread Illinois 0, at tOSU 30 (Sep 26, 3:30, ABC/ESPN)

Illinois D allowed Blane Gabbert in his first career start to go 25/33 319 yards 3 tds 0 int, 442 total yards for Missouri in that game

if Juice Williams plays like crap like he did in that game, this one might get ugly

Didn't Juice have the game of his life 2 years ago against the Buckeyes.

Kid is a great athlete and is a threat.

D needs to play with their hair on fire EVERY SINGLE GAME.

I'm sorry to say but until there is some consistency from the O it's going to be on the defense to win games.

They have Benn, Fayson, and Cumberland and the TE Oooo... something. Last time at the shoe Illinois burned OSU with the read option.

They burned OSU because they had Rashard Mendenhall, not because they ran the read option. The Buckeyes were so keyed on him that Illinois could've ran virtually anything counter to it and as long as they executed well it was going to work. They weren't counting on Juice having the game of his life, and he made them pay in that regard.

With all the threats at receiver, will the middle of the field be susceptible to the run?

They probably have the best group of receivers we've seen all year. I've been VERY impressed with the quality and work rate the Buckeyes have shown at CB though, and that will help immensely. I think this DL will be able to contain and pressure Juice and that will also be key to neutralizing their receivers.

Even though Illinois has been struggling I still expect this to be a closer game for atleast most of the game. We may pull away late but it should still be a step forward from Toledo. However, this game on the other hand could get away from Illinois and really get ugly. Especially if our defense continue's their level of play (which is extremely high).

Per usual the game's either going to be comfortable/tight pending the play of the offense. I'd love to see Pryor put back to back solid games and really start to get the season going in the right direction much like Troy 05'. Also I'd love to see more Jordan Hall.

Would love to see Jordan Hall early in the game to see what he can do against a fresh defense. Kid looked great on Saturday.

I don't care if its Hall, Herron, Saine or Brent Musburger in the backfield. I want to see an effective running game.

Amen.

As I recall, in preseason the talking heads were posting this as the game for the Big 10 title and saying things like, "Illinois is the only other big 10 team with the same level of athletes as Ohio State..."

Yes, but there was also the Dufrene fumble through the endzone that should have been called a touchback for OSU, and Boeckman throwing 3 INTs, including the back-breaker in the middle of the 3rd when OSU could have knotted it up 21-21. 2 of the INTs lead to 14 Illinois points.

don't even remind me. the friggin guy fumbled on the 4 yard line....not even close.

I'll be making my annual trip to the Illinois game again this year. It will be my first time tailgating in the RV lotthough.

Should be a good time. We usually do the RV thing in Champaign and Hineygate in Columbus. Now that Hineygate has moved, we figured we'd RV it up this year.
