IL QB Aaron Bailey (Illinois Signee; Transfer to ???)

Based on the ATH next to his name at the top of this thread, the BPRT seems to disagree, although I could be wrong.

I believe I read that Ohio State was looking at him as an athlete, probably somewhere in the rumor mill, but I don't feel like looking for it right now.

As much as I respect the BPRT, I don't agree with the ATH title and would Ike to understand what led to that decision.

Probably the fact that most schools have told him he is being recruited as an athlete but will have a shot as a QB as he is insisting.

If he is a QB, he will prove that...otherwise, he will be an athlete that can play multiple positions.

To be fair, Trubisky also has plenty of throwing work to do...

True, Trubisky has a funky release (looks like an athletic Phillip Rivers). Moreso I suppose I mean that he has more experience throwing the ball and the results to go with it. Bailey could be a good QB but if we already have more developed prospects in his class, I would think he is more likely to switch positions.

Just sayin', but Scout.com reporter Beth Long confirmed that his offer is 100% as a QB. Again, just sayin'.

Scout $ - Bailey Talks Buckeyes

4/1

By Long....Recaps his visit & speaks highly of the coaching staff. Will return for camp so Coach Meyer can see him throw.

Have to like the fact that he's willing to come to camp and throw to earn a committable offer (assuming he's doesn't currently have one).

This coming to camp seems to be a big issue for the staff, at least for quarterbacks.

While Urban has always emphasized summer camp - and will have more leverage in the future once kids learn what a big event it is (vs a place for big OSU fans and aspiring sleepers to workout as seniors to be in the past) - I think this will change somewhat next year when they have their own underclassmen evaluations to use.

OSU is woefully thin at QB and can't afford to make a mistake scouting Braxton's replacement. They can always recruit more QBs, but they can't undo an ill-advised scholarship offer that gets accepted for 3-5 years.

Edgy Tim O'Halloran on football recruiting | Bolingbrook's Bailey making the rounds
By Tim O'Halloran Special to the Tribune
April 9, 2012

Bolingbrook junior quarterback Aaron Bailey has been making the rounds to some of his favorite schools this spring.

Bailey, who led Bolingbrook to the Class 8A state championship in the fall, has narrowed his final list to Illinois, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State and Wisconsin. He has offers from all of those schools except Ohio State, whose coaches want to see Bailey throw this spring before making an offer.
