IL QB Aaron Bailey (Illinois Signee; Transfer to ???)

I'm surprised the interest in Bailey is so low here. After my team played against him in the championship this past season, there is no doubt in my mind about him being the best in the state.

Now, as a QB Bailey will need some work as he runs the triple option with some spread. In the championship game he was fairly accurate passing going 8-13 for 140 yards in the driving rain. He had 2 INT's but I would say only 1 was his fault as the WR fell on a fade route. In scouting him as an opponent, he has an absolute rocket for an arm.

Also in the championship game he rushed for 150 yards and 2 TD. Which doesnt seem too impressive until you factor in that no one had been able to move the ball on us all season, including the team that put 70 up on Isaac and JCA.

As a IL HS football fan in general and Big10 fan (I'm struggling with liking Nebraska) I'm hoping to see Bailey as a Buckeye QB but I know he'll need to work on passing mechanics. All indications about the kid say he's willing to put in work.

I think part of the reason there isn't much buzz is because

I don't think Ohio State is recruiting him as a QB, which makes this

unlikely.

Uncertainty about where Bailey will fit in the offense (WR, RB, both? QB??) is the reason most fans aren't focusing as much on his recruitment.

Until I hear for sure otherwise, I am expecting Bailey to be recruited as a QB. Every indication is needs some work on his mechanics a little, but that he has one heckuva arm, and can make every throw, just not consistantly right now. Meyer did pretty well with a QB like that. Bailey sounds like an intelligent kid from his interviews, and he is a big kid too, great athlete.

Based on the ATH next to his name at the top of this thread, the BPRT seems to disagree, although I could be wrong.

I believe I read that Ohio State was looking at him as an athlete, probably somewhere in the rumor mill, but I don't feel like looking for it right now.

Has anyone ever been ready to step onto a program like tOSU and start as a Jr in HS? Kid still has his Sr season ahead of him. As far as I can tell he was an effective passer as a Soph. I think I read that he put up nearly as many passing yards his soph year in half the games because his team was bad and they couldnt run and had to pass against good teams. I only got to see film of one game his soph year against Mt Carmel in the playoffs, I believe he was 18 for 31 for 210 yds and 2 TDs, no INTs. This year, they were able to run on everyone.

No matter who steps in there, the QB coach is going to have to work with him. But not everyone that steps in there will have the playmaking ability of Bailey. I shudder thinking of the possibility of he AND Isaac back there. WR's would have to be covered 1 on 1.

Bailey has the arm to play QB but will require much more development than OSU's top/most likely targets (Trubisky and Barrett). If Bailey wants to play QB, I'm sure the staff would give him a shot, but I personally think his future is in the slot. Regardless, just get him here and figure out his position later, he is a great talent.

and here is the recent footage. I hope they come out with the passes too. He had some beauties in the scouting tapes I saw.
