Mick Walker believes Ohio State and ND are battling at the top for Brayden Parks after his visit this past weekend.

Not to be a downer, but personally I’d be surprised if he doesn’t go to ND. He’s long been the top DT on their board. His uncle played RB there and his godfather is former legendary ND player Chris Zorich. He visited for the TX game, and we’ve offered 7 more DT’s since Sunday.

Legacies are hard to shift away from their own hallowed ground. Someone scratched deep to find the connection to Zorich. Maybe tOSU pushes the 'set your own legacy' at him? I mean the above, except when it comes to tOSU legacies......

Notre Dame, Oregon trending for a major recruit who canceled a visit to Ohio State

Ohio State was expected to have a pair of elite defensive tackle recruits in town this weekend, but five-star Sierra Canyon (DL) Marcus Fakatou is the only one who will be in Columbus. The Buckeyes had planned to have Brother Rice (Ill) DL Brayden Parks in for an official, but the visit has been canceled, according to Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong.

Parks’ only two visits set to happen this summer are now to Notre Dame on June 12, then Oregon on June 19. Ohio State was set to be the biggest contender to land the 6-foot-3, 305-pound defensive lineman over Notre Dame and Oregon. Notre Dame has been seen as the favorite to bring in a player who isn’t far at all from then, but the latest buzz has Oregon rising in his recruitment.

Is anyone as surprised as I am? A good midwestern boy, saying no thanks to the Buckeyes? Don't believe (but also don't KNOW) that the two-deep at either of those schools is any better/worse for him than the others. Can anyone drill a bit deeper on this? A free trip, with all the trimmings, to Buckeye-land is a hard thing to pass up, but either he did, or tOSU feels good enough about Fakatou to discourage him. Recruiting is still a very baffling business, that simply has to be experienced, not understood. Thanks in advance, Go Bucks!

OSU is favored to land possibly the #2 and #5 DTs in 2027. This kid is seen as an afterthought. LJsr is cooking if he can land 1 of them, but also throw in that OH DL, Reynaldo Perez is also a serious consideration in the class as the 2 or 3rd DT, and OSU is still in a good spot at DT

Sorry, with the potential to land an uber class at DT feels a bit strange to me. We've had depth, certainly, but DEPTH in the recruiting ranks is a bit overwhelming. Sure, I get that recruiting is a very strange animal, and it ain't over till it's over is the watchword(s). And in this day of information overload, am certain that this recruit (as well as all the rest) are keeping up with current depth chart, and with recruiting potential, as well as rumors or even phone calls to other players - as in 'you feeling the Buckeyes'? etc. On one hand, feel sorry he's not even going to visit, but on the other hand, maybe he (?) has insight as to where these kids might land? Oh well, sometimes I get tangled up with potential outcomes.

DT recruiting as a whole has lagged for the majority of my days following recruiting for whatever reason. Sure we've had some individual studs, but the units as a whole haven't been great many years. I'm a broken record here, but championship teams have dominant DTs almost without exception (and DL as a whole really). So this class needs to step it up. Parks seems like a long shot, so we're probably looking elsewhere.
