If you were HC what would you do?

I am serious about Boeckman.

If JT looks at both of these guys (fumbles and should have been picks included) and says they are basically equal we have a serious problem. As HC you have to fix that. Or you decide we are going to win despite them and you create a gimmick offense (sound familiar?) to mask their weaknesses. I don't think that's OSU football. We have arguably the most talent in college football, pay our coaches a ton of money and donate a ton of money. We should get something better than a gimmick and average quarterbacks.

Some people might say we need to save Boeckman. Why? So we can win later?

Granted, we played a great football team. And we played them well. However, we should have won. An HC should be able to evaluate himself, his mistakes and correct them. JT did it last year and I think he will do it again this year...let's hope it's before we are 3-3. ALERT: I AM NOT SAYING WE ARE GOING TO BE 3-3!:)

Also, I still want Ginn in on offense even if he isn't playing his best. He gets 2 guys on him and frees up Holmes, who played like a stud last night. Unless Ginn severely declines I like him in there

The question, is where do we put him at? We know he has skill, but not much is being done with it. IMO, Holmes and Gonzolez have shown to be our two best RECIEVERS this year. Ginn is at a close thrid, but we wouldnt know because he cant seem to get open. We need a spot where he can get open and make plays while allowing the other two recievers to get looks. For this to be effective, we need a three recevier set and we gotta stay with the spread formation.

WHOEVER is saying that we should throw in MORE power-I is out of his or her mind.

Unfortunately, we DO NOT HAVE the personel for a power-I attack. I believe this was demonstrated in our up-the-guts with Pittman. Our line was consistently blown up, and Tony got hurt. And I'm not impressed withour fullbacks, either.

We DO have the personel for a spread-option attack. A fast back who has a stiffarm, a quick QB, and amazing receivers.

thats exactly why tressel needs to open it up.

The problem with the present QB controversy is that both QB's are still just juniors, and their competition for the starting job will likely carry over into next season. At that point, Boeckman (and possibly Schoenhoft) will be part of the controversy anyway. If neither TS nor JZ claims the job outright, and soon, next season could be a real mess.

EDIT: And by the way, you play the best guys, period. In 2002, MoC started over two upperclassmen (Ross and Hall). Nobody thought about benching Clarett to prevent a "controversy" with the established backs.

I think with Schnit. as the big back in our RB tadem, we could do a few "up the gut" plays. For some strange reason, last night Mo Wells and Shnit. got very few looks.

Ok, let's pretend you were the HC and had to prepare for next weeks game. What would you do?

Resign immediately and ask the AD to hire Tressel as the head coach. Unlike some people, I have no problem admitting that I know next to nothing about football when compared with a real coach that has five national championship rings.

This deserves a great post award. About as close as I come to being the OSU head coach is I own a sweater vest.

you know whats funny if hamby catches the td then everyone would say JZ deserves to start, both have things their good at to me it is unfair to say JZ should be sat the offense we ran the first 4 games last yr is nowhere near what smith got imo JZ looks pretty comfortable back in the shotgun and reads the D better than smith and gets rid of it quicker but smith gives you the legs and a better deepball.

So as head coach I crossbreed them and get a complete QB

i cannot understand why you guys say you would start Troy... based on last night's performance? are you serious? he threw THREE balls directly into the chest of the defenders, and fumbled two snaps, in addition to repeatedly pulling the ball down and running without even bothering to look at the second receiever option...

Justin was three dropped passes (which were all right on the hands) from being 80% last night, and leading the game winning drive... i know, i know, he isn't as athletic as Troy, but somehow he managed to have a greater per rush average...

i don't want to hear about Troy leading the team to 16 points... that's a bunch of crap. he had one good drive... look at starting field position last night.

1: Troy's first "drive" started at the UT 36 yard line. he managed 8 yards in 5 plays before Huston's 45 yard FG... (1.16 yards per play??!?)

2: Troy's second drive was a thing of beauty, i will admit: 80 yards in 9 plays with a great 36 yard TD pass to Holmes... however,

3: Troy's third "drive" began on the UT 18 yard line, and he managed exactly -1 yards, before Huston's FG... i dunno about you, but that ain't exactly 'leading the team down the field' to me.

4: Troy's fouth "drive" began at the UT 30 yard line... actually, Troy got a first down on this drive, after getting sacked on First down, and throwing to a covered Roy Hall for a loss on Second, he was bailed out by a very generous spot from the referees on his third down pass to Gonzales... at any rate, he managed just 22 yards on 9 plays before Huston's FG...

5: Troy's fifth "drive" began on Texas' 37 yard line... once again, Troy managed a mere 11 yards on 6 plays before Huston's kick...

so, you guys want a guy who was handed TDs on a silver platter, yet managed a mere 45% completion rate, and was responsible for at least 5 bad descisions, over a guy with a 60% completion rate, which by all rights should have been 80%, and who actually managed a very nice 72 yard drive himself???

if Justin had played the entire game, we would have won by at least 14 points... and i'll bet all of my v1400+ that Justin graded out better in the film session...

sorry guys... i might be in the minority here, but i do not want to see any more of Stan Jac-- er- Troy Smith unless Justin Zwick is hurt...

Ok LV I don't want to get into a pissing match here or anything, but when Zwick has been given the start he has a record or 5-4. I know you can't really count last nite b/c of the fact that Troy played about half, but here are a couple things to chew on.

1. When pressured Smith has a better chance to make a play out of it than Zwick. Thing last years 1st td in the mich game.

2. Smith's ball is a lot better than Zwick. Just watch Zwick's ball wobble compared to Smith's.

3. I don't know Smith's td/int ratio off the top of my head, but I believe that Zwick is 8/6 which is not very good.

4. The big thing for me is that the team seems to rally behind Smith more.

5. Also to go against your we win if Zwick plays the whole game, I don't know, but I do know this Zwick didnt start the game very well like he should have or I don't think he would of ever come out.

answer this honestly: do you give the same weight to an incompletion that hit the receiver right in the hands as an incompletion that bounced off the chest of the defender?

what if Gonzo caught that ball on the first drive?
what if Teddy didn't drop that ball on the first drive?
what if Hamby didn't drop that ball in the endzone?

yeah, coulda, woulda, shoulda, i know, but Justin was flat out BETTER last night... it's not even in question... the play calling was better, whether by design, or by the fact that Troy likes to run instead of going through his progressions, and Justin did not throw any questionable balls... Justin can take a snap from center without fumbling as well...

sorry, i don't care how pretty it looks as it's flying through the air, when the ball hits a defender, it's a bad pass.
