If Tressel retired today, who would you want to replace him?

i think the jury is still out on what he can do at michigan state (although i do think that program can and will be turned around), but i think mark dantonio is a hell of a coach. and i also think he'd jump at our head coaching job in a second in the event Tressel retires, although i don't know how old he'd be by then

Well you can have one or the other, but not both. If we're talking about today, Fickell is still too inexperienced but Hazell is still with the program. Down the road, Hazell might very well be gone, but Fickell will have more experience under his belt.

I would not be surprised to see Hazell gone after this season...I'm not predicting it, but it wouldn't shock me. If we had to hire someone today, Hazell would be a good choice, but I don't think the administration would hire someone without head coaching experience.

As for Fickell, he won't be ready for a head coaching gig at an elite program like Ohio State for at least another 10 years. He has no head coaching experience at all. If we're talking about hiring today, Fickell wouldn't even be in the equation.

Urban Meyer.

Only after osugrad21 turns down the job, we would settle for Urban. About the time we were preparing to play UF for the national title there was a rumor the Browns would overwhelm JT with an offer. The posters on Swamp Gas were already resigned to losing Urban. As one poster put it, before Tressel coukl drive to Cleveland, Meyer would be unpacking at his new office in Columbus.

He's shady. You don't want him up there. Where there's smoke there's fire.

He had Tim Tebow recruit for him illegally. The circumcisions that Tebow allegedly did at the orphanage were really done by Urban, they just covered it up...again.

[HTM] He won't have to do those shady things when he gets to an elite program like tOSU. Top recruits will just flock to him like moths to a shining can of Rogaine. [/HTM]

Gotta go with Luke Fickel. He's very smart. He relates to kids well. He "gets it". A real Tressel protege.

For some reason I don't like Spielman here. Can't quite put my finger on "Why".

Urban Meyer I find disgusting like most SEC coaches.

Grodan? Maybe.

Hazel? I don't know enough about him.

How about Chris Carter? He gets it. He can relate to kids.

Are offensive coaches better head coaching candidates then defensive coaches?
