If tOSU was in the SEC...

I say for the millionth time, kick USC's ass, and this all goes away.

I think even if we beat USC and beat Georgia we'd still get flack. OSU makes too good of a villain around the country. If the best program if the decade is this lucky, terrible, whatever rationalization fans come up with if gives them their program can get to the top. Scoreboarding, bellitting OSU makes Old Mrs., Kansas, Missouri, West Virginia, Louisville, NC State Georgia Tech, Arizona etc fans think they've got shot to win titles and go to frequent BCS bowls.

ESPIN loves the Trojans far more than the evil CBS SEC. They will be talking up the game like idiots, and when you kick their asses, kick the Golden Boy's ass in his own house, they have no choice up to annoint you. That is what they do.
Front running media? Sure. Fans? Not yet. And if OSU is anointed that much, it will only fuel the hatred imo.
I really think you overstate this SEC stuff too much.
SEC is a guaranteed inclusion in any topic about OSU around the interwebs just like twinkies are for Charlie Weis.
The entire sport is built upon short attention spans...that is why you hear so much stupid crap every day. Nobody can remember last week, let alone last year.
Hence the beyond laughable support for OU as one of the 'instead of OSU' teams, despite their run of 4 out of 5 years of awful bowl performances.

This vitriol towards OSU is not a 1 time thing.

02 NC, after a slew of ugly wins... "luckeyes"... people still hate the NC game.
03 #1 in some preseason polls, still really ugly football.

06 #1 all year.
07 #1 twice in season, #1 pre bowl.
08 Top-3 again, in the title game, AGAIN, if they beat USC. I really think you're underestimating the disdain for that outcome.

Maybe so. I guess I am so used to people hating UF that I don't notice other programs going through the same thing...except Notre Dame. I notice the world hating them more.

It give me hope for World Peace one day, as people are getting smarter.

As long as I have been around OSU football, the Buckeyes have not done that well against SEC teams. And I am going back into the 70's here. I wondered why and what was the difference, and i kind of thought maybe it was because back in my day the weather in the midwest was brutally cold.
A football in that weather is not caught easily. But down in the warm southern climate there is one hell of a difference as I now have found out.

But another thing that i noticed was all high school teams here in Florida have the opportunity to have spring ball practice for at least 3 weeks time.
That sure makes a difference too also. The little league baseball programs almost go year round here too.

so taking all those little things into play, i would have to say that the SEC conference would fit the Buckeyes into mabye 2nd or 3rd overall on a yearly basis. But then again it sure does not make any difference to the grip that Michigan has on Gator Football huh? So maybe all that I say here may not hold alot of water. Its just what i have seen having been here for 18 years.

is it just me, or has the entire season been rather mild the past 2 or 3 years... in '02 you could sneak in booze rather easy under the winter coat, but I can't remember the last 'freezing' game I was at

I don't know for sure but Maybe in the 80's we had a home and home with LSU. But i do remember playing Alabama in the Superdome in 75? I think and Bear and the boys did a number on the Buckeyes. It seems like the weather up in the midwest is getting very mild each year. Last years game with Michigan was kind of bad wasn't it.

The 'Bama game was the Sugar Bowl after the '77 season. We also lost to them in the Meadowlands in the kickoff classic in '86, and a Citrus Bowl after the '94 season.

tOSU got a tie in Baton Rouge in '87, and a home win against LSU in '88 (a great comeback with Bobby Olive's late TD).

lets make a list of all the games

78 (77) sugar bowl bama-L
86 kick off classic bama-L
87 @ lsu-T
88 lsu-W
95(94) citrus bama-L
96(95) citrus tenn-L
07(06)-NC florida-L
08(07)-NC lsu-L

and yes the um game was like the psu game in 2006 30s with rain.

No, but Lord of the Flies says that Piggy's glasses might get stolen...
?? Arkansas reference? Must not be, 'cause if Piggy had SEC speed that crap with the boulder wouldn't have happened!

So with this hypothetical schedule we've got... are the home games in Columbus or Baton Rouge? I like our chances with Georgia in Columbus late October for a night game, and since the only other tough game (at FL) is early in the season we could lose it and still have a decent shot at going to the conference championships. Sorry SEC guys, but we really should still be playing for a conference championship with this schedule. This has to be about the easiest schedule in the SEC though, right?
